Developers Avalanche Software have confirmed that there will be further updates and features coming this summer so there are certainly plenty of things for fans to look forward to. However, it is the aforementioned Reddit post which has captured the imagination of many who like to experience the wizarding world.

What could Hogwarts Legacy look like with Unreal Engine 6?

As can be seen on the Hogwarts Legacy Subreddit, there is a video of what the game would be if it was photorealistic. The first part focuses on Hogsmeade and the level of detail is stunning to the point where many fans commented about how they would love to see this at some point in the future.

The best part of the subreddit following this post was the raft of comments from fans who believed that they could hear their PCs straining, just from watching the video and that many CPUs could be heard crying out in pain. A hilarious over-reaction but funny nonetheless.

Whilst many fans were in absolute awe of the photorealism of the images and the level of detail, there was to be a sting in the tail and unfortunately like magic, sometimes all is not as it seems.

Who posted the Hogwarts Legacy video?

Avalanche Software have promised new features and updates this Summer for Hogwarts Legacy.

The original posting of the video came from u/khent_design_art who answered a barrage of questions on the video and was quick to admit that the images were down to photo-editing and upscaling, with just a touch of AI added in to help to give it an HD boost.

Just to emphasise how detailed the images of Hogsmeade are, one posting on the Subreddit compared it to the inside of Universal Studios. It is so detailed that there must have been substantial time spent on the project and despite some criticism, the OP stated that they only do this for pleasure and were happy with the results.

Whilst the truth of the images may have disheartened fans who thought this could be what they could see from the game in the future, Khent did point out that there was potential for this in the future with Unreal Engine 6.

It’s clear that Hogwarts Legacy was one of the best games of 2023 and the love from fans continues into this year and no doubt beyond. With Avalanche Software promising more features and updates this coming Summer, there is huge excitement still surrounding the game and with the images on Reddit, perhaps a little bit of magic showing what the future may hold.
