After Deadpool 3 and No Way Home, the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars is rumored to bring back Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire’s characters to fight Jonathan Majors’ Kang. Marvel is well on its way to realizing their goals for Phase 5. This includes Jonathan Majors’ Kang Dynasty in 2025, and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026. And both will reportedly feature Majors as the major villain.
However, after his stint as the villain protagonist in Kang Dynasty, he will supposedly give up that mantle to the Avengers in the next movie. Interestingly, there is another update that suggests that Marvel is set to bring back their biggest money makers for Avengers 6 and that includes Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.
Although it is still shrouded in mystery what the movie will revolve around, it is safe to say that fans might get to see another Avengers assembly in Secret Wars.

Jonathan Majors is set to terrorize the Avengers in Phase 5
After his first appearance as Kang in Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania, he became an instant hit among the fans. As such, his reappearance in Loki and the upcoming Avengers movie Kang Dynasty was not exactly a surprise. However, it is reported that the upcoming movie will only see the start of his reign of terror in the MCU.
Although the next movies migh5 not see him in a major part, he is going to give the heroes fierce competition to take control of Earth. And for that, Marvel will reportedly bring back their ultimate hitmakers to stop him along with Legacy stars.
And these hitmakers reportedly include those whose careers in the MCU were thought to be concluded. Such as Hugh Jackman‘s Logan and Tobey Maguire‘s Peter Parker, who are once again reprising their roles after years. In fact, it seems that Marvel might be set on bringing back their characters permanently as Maguire also featured in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and fans will see Jackman in Deadpool 3 next year.
Longtime Marvel screenwriter Mark Waldron is reportedly focusing his all on finishing the script and reports are claiming that Marvel is “aiming to get as many heavy hitters as they can” for the movie. As a result, fans are wondering if there are going to be even more Marvel veterans who will slowly come back to visit them on screen.

Marvel might drop Jonathan Majors
There are also reports claiming that it could be entirely possible that Marvel drops Jonathan Majors due to his recent controversy. At the end of last month, Majors was arrested on charges of harassment and assault against his girlfriend. Although his lawyer Priya Chaudhry claimed that the case will be over soon as her client is innocent and is being set up, things are not exactly looking up for Jonathan Majors.
First, his major US army campaign ad got pulled from being aired, then his talent management company dropped him, and a recent update confirmed that he is being replaced in two of the movies he was supposed to headline in. As a result, people are wondering if Marvel, too, will go that way.
Especially with sources claiming that Marvel is “discussing options” with his management team. There are also rumors that MCU might be looking into actors like Damson Idris to replace the Lovecraft Country actor.
However, as the studio or Jonathan Majors’ team has not directly commented on it yet, it will be a matter of time before things can be said for sure. Especially as there is still some time before Kang Dynasty starts shooting in Spring 2024, and Avengers: Secret War possibly a year after that.
Whatever the case, one thing can be said for sure, that fans might be needing to brace themselves for another “Avengers! Assemble!” moment when Avengers 6 arrives.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is expected to release on May 2nd, 2025, while Avengers: Secret Wars will be arriving on May 1st, 2026.
