Anne Hathaway was also a victim of nervousness and anxiety, and during her interview, she shared that when she was new in the industry, she had to give auditions to get the role. However, she was not prepared when she was told to share a kiss with her co-star as part of the role.

Anne Hathaway Was Nervous For Her First Kiss

During an exclusive interview with Black Film, Anne Hathaway shared that prior to her breakthrough role in The Princess Diaries, she had to give auditions to bag the role. She explained that she was giving auditions for a series called Get Real, and as part of the auditions she had to share a kiss with her co-star, when she learned about this detail she started shaking due to nervousness.

“Actually, my first film kiss was when I was 16. It wasn’t a film kiss; it was my first acting, stage kiss, was when I was 16. I did a TV pilot for Fox, which turned into a series called Get Real. And I was so scared I was shaking for like two weeks beforehand. But at this point I’m kind of a film kissing alum.”

The 1999 comedy series lasted for only one season consisting of 22 episodes, in which the actress was in the lead role playing the role of Meghan Green, the oldest child in a quirky family household.

Anne Hathaway Enjoyed Kissing James McAvoy

After becoming a prominent name in the movie industry, The Devil Wears Prada actress had to press lips with numerous actors who were great people but when it came to kissing scenes, she started getting “dodgy instincts” because they try to make the scene “look a bit too real.”

“Sometimes you work with actors, and they can be lovely guys, but they have kind of dodgy instincts when it comes to kissing in scenes. They want to try to make it look a bit too real if you know what I mean.”

However, the Interstellar actress felt James McAvoy was an exception to her statement, the two were working together in Becoming Jane, and she was delighted with McAvoy’s approach to kissing scenes in the films.

“With James, right before we started he turned to me and said, ‘Closed mouths, no tongue!’ That’s what I normally say to people so it was a pleasure working with him.”

The actress was outstanding in the film and the on-screen chemistry between the two actors was noteworthy and one of the key elements of the film, that captured its audience by showcasing a compelling and emotional bond between the two characters.
