Charlie Cox’s role as Matt Murdock in Marvel’s Daredevil has been one of the most iconic performances in the MCU to this date. The series has become a classic, easily being called a masterpiece by fans. It was so adored by fans that despite being canceled in 2018, the series is getting rebooted into a new series altogether.
Ever since Daredevil: Born Again was announced in 2022, fans cannot help but be extremely excited to see the old cast, back together, and see Murdock’s story continue. While the news and updates around this upcoming series have been positive in the past few months, it cannot be forgotten how worried fans were when stories of reshoots and rewritings plagued the internet.
It would seem, that all of these happened after Cox said that he had complete faith in the franchise.
Marvel Fans Were Worried
When production of Daredevil: Born Again began, there were more than a handful of rumors that were suggesting that the show would not be as good as fans hoped it to be. One of the biggest challenges for the series was to meet the high standards that the Netflix series set for itself and judging by these whispers, the new show was not even close.
The firing of writers and crew members left and right, and Marvel’s track record with shows at the time did not help their case. While Loki and Moon Knight were excellent shows, unfortunately, there were far more projects that left fans disappointed.
The cherry on top was when it was announced that the series would basically be starting from scratch, having many reshoots and rewriting a lot of the script.
Charlie Cox Never Lost Faith
While all of these factors played a huge role in making fans extremely nervous about how Daredevil: Born Again would be, it seemed that Charlie Cox had complete faith in the franchise. The actor spoke with Comicbook.com around the time the news of the show was announced and revealed some interesting details about his feelings towards Marvel.
“I’m such a fan of everything they’ve done so far, I wouldn’t underestimate them at all,” said Charlie Cox.
Despite having his show canceled by Netflix and waiting years to get a callback from the franchise, Cox is perfectly content coming back and trusting Marvel again. The actor knew what he was getting into when he joined the cast of the upcoming series.
As he revealed during this interview, he had been following the MCU and loving everything they were doing. With this, he believes the franchise to do what will be best for telling Matt Murdock’s story.
