The worst of the worst are nominated for a ‘Worst Picture’ Razzie. The worst of them all wins one. Over the years, many iconic movies we grew up watching have won a Razzie.

Rambo: First Blood Part II

Rambo: First Blood Part II

Fresh from the success of Rambo: First Blood, Sylvester Stallone quickly came back for a sequel. Rambo: First Blood Part II was double the fun, double the action, and double the entertainment. At least that’s what they thought it would be. First Blood Part II was a hot mess left to die on a summer afternoon. It stunk so bad the whole Hollywood could not escape the stench. Sure First blood Part II makes for some good popcorn flick fun but it is such a corny movie we are shocked it hasn’t won more Razzies.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Star Trek V

The Star Trek series has almost no haters (except Discovery because, well that’s another story). Having given the fans one acclaimed movie or show after another, Star Trek had become a force to be reckoned with in the late Eighties. And then came Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. The outer space sci fi flick was an absolute train-wreck. It also marked the debut of William Shatner’s directing skills. He would not sit on the director’s chair for a long time after that project bombed. The Razzie got it right that year.

Indecent Proposal

Indecent Proposal

The risque factor of the plot of the movie was what made people come to the theaters to watch it. Indecent Proposal had a very unique story arc. A millionaire – Johnny Gage, comes after a beautiful woman he wants to sleep with. But there’s just one problem – she’s married. Gage offers the cash-strapped couple a million dollars if the wife agrees to sleep with him. It would solve their problems but ruin their marriage in the process. Indecent Proposal, just like the name suggests, was what it meant to the fans as a movie when they watched it. It won a Razzie that very year.

Basic Instinct 2

Sharon Stone shot to fame after starring in Basic Instinct, an erotic thriller that ended up being one of that year’s biggest hits. Hollywood just does not know when to quit while it is ahead. Basic Instinct 2 came a few years later and the rest is history. The movie was incoherent and the acting was supremely bad. We are sure if the Razzie awards committee had had their way, Basic Instinct 2 would have swept clean every Razzie that year.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

Revenge of the Fallen

Michael Bay had something going with the first Transformers movie. Then in true Michael Bay fashion, he ruined it with too many explosions. Revenge of the Fallen was not necessarily a bad movie. It did make a profit at the Box Office. But the CGI rife movie had multiple low points that made us question Michael Bay’s legitimacy and skills as a director. Bay has won many Razzie awards but it was Revenge of the Fallen that probably pushed him into the abyss.

The Emoji Movie

The Emoji Movie

Now here’s a movie the fans were screaming at the top of their lungs they did NOT want!! Did the studio listen? No!! Have they ever? Hell no!!! The Emoji Movie was being touted as the next Angry Birds or something. But boy it was a disaster in the making. This movie was so visually unappealing and humor-dry that even a Razzie seems too low for this debacle. We implore Hollywood studios to pay heed to the fans and make something meaningful next time. Or stick to a different formula. The Emoji Movie was a total waste of time and energy.
