Mark Sheppard, who’s most popularly known for his portrayal of Crowley in Supernatural, took to Instagram to confirm that he experienced massive heart attacks, describing the event as “The Widowmaker”.

The 59-year-old collapsed in his kitchen over the weekend and had six massive heart attacks. The swiftness of his wife, Sarah Louise Fudge, and medics, who brought him back “from dead 4 times” ensured Sheppard survived the ordeal, much to the relief of his family, well-wishers, and fans.

Supernatural Fans Express Their Support for Mark Sheppard After Heart Attacks

Mark Sheppard starred as Crowley, the King of Hell, in the dark fantasy drama Supernatural between 2005 and 2020. Introduced as an enemy of the Winchesters, his character would remain an ally to them in the midst of a greater threat. The transformation of the Crossroads Demon into an anti-hero made Sheppard one of the most loved figures on the show.

The news of him suffering massive heart attacks shook many of his fans, but what surprised them, even more, was how Sheppard managed to survive The Widowmaker, a type of heart attack in which an individual has a full blockage in their heart’s biggest artery.

Through his Instagram post, the actor confirmed he “had a 100% blockage” in his LAD (left anterior descending artery). The Supernatural star was miraculously resuscitated four times.

The update left his fans in disbelief and in delight at the same time.

Sheppard underlined his chances of survival were “virtually nil”, revealing he wouldn’t be writing the post if not for his wife and first responders at the Burbank hospital.

In the comment section of his Instagram post, Misha Collins, who worked alongside him in Supernatural, expressed his shock at the number of heart attacks Sheppard got and quipped that he doesn’t need to do the most and biggest every time.

His Doctor Who co-star John Barrowman offered his support by writing: “Mark, WTF…if there is anything you need or I can do just let me know. I am just a small journey away. Please do all they tell you to make yourself heal and get well.”
