Drake is one of the industry’s most established rappers, and the rap icon is constantly making headlines for one reason or another. The Canadian rapper’s sexuality has been in question many times over the years because of his confusing lyrics. However, after the release of his latest album, For All the Dogs the speculations of Drake being gay have risen astronomically.
How did fans start questioning Drake’s sexuality?
Drake is one of the finest rappers in the industry at the moment and all of his studio albums have been a part of Billboard 200 on their release. The hip-hop rapper has even won five Grammy Awards throughout his career spanning over 2 decades. Although he is one of the best lyricists and hip-hop rappers at the moment, some of his songs have had some questionable lyrics throughout the years which have raised suspicions around the sexuality of the rapper.
A few months ago, Drake released his eighth studio album, For All the Dogs which instantly became a massive critical success among the fans of the genre. In the song, Members Only feat. PartyNextDoor, fans quickly took notice of this one line that was rapped by Drake which was questionable, to say the least. On the track, he sang,
“Feel like I’m bi ’cause you’re one of the guys, girl.”
Despite the lyrics being confusing, this wasn’t the first time that fans have started to question Drake’s sexuality.
The One Dance rapper opens up about getting trolled
Members Only was not the first track that left fans of Drake questioning the lyrics. In the track, Girls on Girls, Drake sings, “Yeah, talkin’ all the sh*t that you done been through. Yeah, say that you a lesbian, girl, me too.” What the hell does that even mean?
After the release of his song, Her Loss feat. 21 Savage, the Canadian rapper was trolled a lot for the way he sang the lyrics, “21, can you do somethin’ for me? Can you hit a lil’ rich flex for me? And 21, can you do somethin’ for me? Drop some bars to my pu**y ex for me.”
Drake even reacted on his stream to people trolling him for this song and surprisingly he revealed that he made his peace with the trollers and memes. He said,
“I was just like, you know what, I understand after all these years that, I feel like I have a polarizing presence. I’m almost a character in people’s movies and therefore there’s a running a dialogue. There’s jokes, you’re either the villain to some people or hero to some people. It is what it is, it just comes with the territory.”
Drake once even painted his nails pink after Lil Yachty suggested him to do so that he stop chewing them and the world started being homophobic towards him. The whole conversation took place when Lil Yachty commented on the Hotline Bling rapper’s picture on Instagram. Drake wrote,
“Get out my comments. You told me to paint my nails so I stop biting them and now the world is being homophobic for the first time since Rich Flex… which wasn’t that long ago now that I think about it. Wait, is the world homophobic? Smh.”
Despite having 5 Grammy Awards under his belt, Drake recently lashed out at the organization amidst the ongoing Nicki Minaj controversy. The Canadian rapper congratulated his fellow peers who had won the awards at this year’s ceremony.
He also encouraged the rappers and singers who did not win an award this year and told them to not let the opinions of a single group whose identity is ‘kept secret’ tell them they are not successful.
