Genshin Impact is filled with easter eggs from all corners of the map. Some might have noticed how the library in Enkanomiya somehow happened to be in Fontaine’s Elynas as well. Whether it is about the upside-down Statue of the Seven, the door to Khaenri’ah underneath the Desert of Sumeru, or even the pillars of Celestia that fell down on every nation, something or the other always has fans thinking.

Although there are at times some heavy connections to things, there are moments when the game includes some of the most subtle hints possible about a nation and the untold truth about it. Some are so subtle that players might not even notice. After completing the Archon Quest for 4.0, Furina can be heard crying near the Fountain of Lucine. Another example is the empty vision and sword kept on the North of Inazuma. However, one that players might have missed out on is the connection between the sea otters and the Iudex of Fontaine.

Are the Otters Just Too Similar to the Chief Justice of Fontaine in Genshin Impact?
The otters found in the waters of Fontaine are certainly cute to look at. Their blue streamlined bodies with white hues make them not only adorable to watch, but the tricks they perform underwater and follow the Travelers have made them favorites very quickly. However, the way Neuvillette seems to match them not only by aesthetics but also by looks has gotten players squealing in excitement.

They both look so similar, especially in the water when Neuvillette can be seen floating next to the otters. From the front to the back, the blue and white is a little too similar to that of the Iudex of the nation of Hydro. For those who have been playing the game for so long, they know that Genshin Impact is not a game of coincidences. So to think that this too was a sweet coincidence could be rather ignorant.

The Otters Symbolize Neuvillette’s Role in Fontaine
As per various legends and cultures, otters are seen as a symbol of hope and joy. They are seen as creatures of self-discovery and peace. Having otters around oneself could mean that the truth will soon be uncovered whether it is about one’s own or that of the environment around them. As the Iudex of Fontaine, Neuvillette stands for truth. He stands for justice and being the Hydro Dragon, he knows more about the nation of Justice than anyone else.

It is because of Neuvillette that the Traveler is able to learn more about the secrets buried in the depths of Fontaine. A drowning nation’s only hope has been the Hydro Dragon for a very long time. Cataclysm’s Quickening showed clearly as to how he single-handedly held back the Primordial Seawater with ease. He has been the last line of defense for the nation and he alone cries in the rain so everyone else can be happier around him.
