Robert Pattinson was the latest star to enter the DC world as one of the franchise’s most celebrated and iconic superheroes, Batman. In the dark and gritty Matt Reeves’ film The Batman based on the Batman Detective Comics, Pattinson impressed with his brooding and edgy portrayal of the Caped Crusader who becomes the savior of a city caught in a web of corruption.
The film earned the Twilight star a lot of critical acclaim and augmented his already massive fan base. While there were many stylized scenes and visuals that added to the ambiance of the film, one particular scene involving a bat turned out to be one of the most challenging propositions for the star to film.
This Robert Pattinson Scene In The Batman Took Forever To Get Right
Robert Pattinson’s version of DC’s greatest superhero Batman earned the star a lot of praise from critics and fans alike. The Harry Potter star channeled his inner brooding persona to bring out the dark shades of the character to perfection. Pattinson also had to break a sweat quite a few times during the filming of certain scenes.
One tricky segment involved the actor entering a cage to get a live bat out. Pattinson’s Bat Suit was made in such a way that it allowed the star to get in and out only at a certain angle, which proved to be extremely uncomfortable, especially with a live bat in hand. Speaking to Cinema Blend, Pattinson said,
“It looked so awkward. It literally took about a million takes to get it right”
The Batman actor admitted though, that he was not scared of bats and welcomed the opportunity to work with them live on set, despite having technical difficulties during the scene.
Robert Pattinson’s Deep Fear Of Humiliation
Robert Pattinson has achieved superstardom thanks to the Twilight film series and now, with his edgy portrayal of Batman. The actor is considered one of the most talented stars of his generation along with being a heartthrob among the female population.
This faith that fans have in him has made him even more aware of his responsibility as an actor. In a chat with Interview Magazine, Pattinson was asked if he ever took on a project that he did not believe in, to which he replied,
“Not really. I have a deep, deep fear of humiliation. And also, you sort of know it’s down to you. You can say it’s a shitty script or the director’s a dick or blah, blah, blah, but at the end of the day, no one’s going to care about the reasons. You’re the one who everyone’s going to say is lame. And the vast majority of people will say you’re lame even when you tried your best.”
Despite the lofty heights that can be reached as an actor, Pattison admitted that worry was a huge part of life as a celebrity and a constant reminder that superstardom must be earned and nurtured throughout one’s career.
