Privacy is something that has been lost since the introduction of social media. Blonde star Ana de Armas feels the same about the Internet since the mystery behind a star was essentially lost over time with social media.
Talking about stardom and her recent successes including No Time To Die (2021) and Blonde (2022), Ana de Armas talked about her career. With the mystery behind an actor being eliminated by the presence of social media, de Armas feels that privacy has lost its meaning.
Ana de Armas Feels The Stardom Is Lost Due To Social Media
After starring in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out (2019) where she gained international acclaim, Ana de Armas found a plethora of projects to work on. Starring alongside Daniel Craig in James Bond’s No Time To Die, the actress became a topic of debate when she starred as Marilyn Monroe in the biographical-fiction movie, Blonde.
Talking about Blonde, the actress sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair. Since the movie was set in the middle 1950s, there was a lot of difference from the modern world compared to the movie timeline. Ana de Armas stated that she did a lot to get into the role of Marilyn Monroe which included giving up social media for good.
In these moments, Ana de Armas also revealed that social media has been the cause of the disappearance of stardom. Stating that there’s essentially no mystery element left for the people to see in an actor, here’s what Ana de Armas said.
“I feel like the new generations don’t have that concept, because of social media. There is so much information out there and oversharing. The concept of a movie star is someone untouchable you only see onscreen. That mystery is gone. For the most part, we’ve done that to ourselves—nobody’s keeping anything from anyone anymore.”
Several people stood in support of the War Dogs actress and tweeted out their support for her.
She’s right about the “mystique” of a celebrity no longer being as it once was. Most celebrities feel so “reachable” when you can see their personal posts and comment directly on them, perhaps even get a reaction. There’s nothing wrong with that, but yeah it’s a new “phase”

She’s absolutely right. Everyone has a camera and the ability to instantly share what they’ve recorded. And not just information but primarily misinformation. Lies for clicks. Social media has totally changed everything.

She’s absolutely right. I told someone some days ago that if Michael Jackson was still alive in this era, he wouldn’t be so great and invincible, some bunch of trolls would comments on a pic he posts online or try to talk their opinion in his affairs. True celebrities existed 1/2

true ! its not special to see them in theaters anymore cause ppl can see them in insta, tik tok etc.

She’s absolutely correct

Ever since her portrayal in Blonde, Ana de Armas has been getting multiple projects. One of the most notable ones is the spin-off of the John Wick franchise titled Ballerina.
Ana de Armas Talks About Ballerina
Talking about her upcoming projects, Ana de Armas is excited to star in the John Wick spinoff Ballerina. The movie will showcase the actress in the lead role and will be seen all John Wick style. de Armas stated that she had been offered multiple projects yet she chose them strategically and what interested her the most.
“After Bond, there was kind of a wave of all these action roles, and that was fun. I chose from the ones that I thought were more exciting or with people I wanted to work with. I feel like Ballerina is going to be the end of that, at least for now, because I’m craving a wave of Blonde-type films. I want to do work with directors and do character work. I have had the opportunity to meet directors that I want to work with. The people that I’m getting access to is changing, and that makes me very excited.”
The upcoming Ballerina currently does not have a release date as the movie is in the production stage of development. Blonde, however, is available to stream on Netflix.
