James Gunn is regarded as the greatest Superhero movie director of all time. From Guardians of The Galaxy to The Suicide Squad, one can see the keen eye and talent of the director when it comes to Superhero movies. After being fired from Disney for a series of old problematic tweets, the director has now joined Marvel’s arch-enemy, DC.
As he continues his journey with DC, the director recently spoke up about the changes he would be making to the DC verse, and what can fans expect from him as a filmmaker. While most admired his response, expressing excitement for the future, many can’t help but think if his recent comments were made to subtly slander Zack Snyder and Snyderverse.

Gunn has always been a bit proud of himself and his art. His pride is justified by seeing the menial jobs he used to do and the effort he put in to become the person he is now. His decision to pursue filmmaking despite the odds is something that fans have since long appreciated. Speaking up in a recent interview with EL PAÍS, he spoke up about his vision for the future of the DC Universe.
“I’m hiring great directors and great writers. It’s going to be interesting stuff, if nothing else. That’s what I’d rather make, stuff that’s interesting and doesn’t work, than stuff that is just the same old thing that we’ve seen again and again.”
While many took his comment positively, curious to see how Gunn’s vision plays out, many can’t help but notice if Gunn’s comments were directed towards Zack Snyder. Snyder has contributed a lot towards the DC verse by directing numerous million-grossing movies. However, none has been as successful as James Gunn‘s Marvel movies. Critics of the Snyder verse have also called out Snyder for ‘repetition’ and the same dark storylines, so it seems plausible that Gunn’s comment somehow takes a dig at Snyder and his Snyderverse.

James Gunn On His Decision To Join DC
When old tweets of James Gunn resurfaced, Disney was quick to fire him. Along with Gunn’s attempts to explain that his opinions and views have since changed, and cast and public’s protest, he was rehired for the third and final installment of Guardians of The Galaxy. However, it was already too late as Gunn had signed up with DC. Regarding his opinion to join DC, he said,
“I don’t think there’s ever been a storyteller in charge. It’s unprecedented. No one in the history of Hollywood has ever had an opportunity to tell the biggest story ever told across television, film and games, to have that type of creative outlet. So how the f**k could I say no?”
With the DC verse in tumult, it would be interesting to see what James Gunn has in store for DC.
