Before her Royal romance with Prince William, Kate Middleton’s past reveals that several suitors were wooed for romantic dates with the Princess of Wales. As per reports, Middleton dated four different men before settling with the Prince and becoming a parent of three.
Middleton has been in the headlines as several reports, rumors, and theories have surrounded the Princess following her unknown ailment. But her life before her Royal crowning as Princess and the royal wedding with Prince William on 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London, her past reportedly reveals a history of her dating a few different men. Here’s a list of Middleton’s previous romances.
Harry Blakelock
Kate Middleton reportedly had a heartbreak after hockey captain Harry Blakelock broke up with her. Per Daily Mail, it was her first schoolgirl love. Blakelock called the relationship off before his gap year to travel around the world. The duo met in Wiltshire boarding high school, Marlborough College, and their romance sparked during a three-month trip to Florence. “When Kate arrived in Florence, she was really hung up about Harry,” a friend of Middleton previously told The Mail. “She spoke about him all the time, and he seemed to have messed her around quite a bit,” she added.
Middleton, who was shy around men at the time, was still rooting to get back to her ex, but there was no patch-up.
Willem Marx
In 2000, Middleton reportedly dated now-CBS News correspondent Willem Marx for a brief period of time. While details of their relationship were not in the media, Marx described their relationship as her “first love,” per Mirror.
Now, Marx is a renowned journalist in London and works as a special correspondent for the PBS NewsHour. He is married to Italian TV presenter Johanna Botta.
Rupert Finch
Before her royal romance with the Prince of Wales, Middleton was in love with the University of St. Andrews classmate Rupert Finch. They met during her first year at the university. Per reports (via People), the duo dated less than a year before their split. Finch is a lawyer by profession and married to English aristocrat Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs and shares three children.
He was invited to Prince and Middleton’s royal wedding. The brief relationship of the duo was depicted in the sixth and final season of The Crown, where Oli Green played the role of Finch alongside Meg Bellamy’s portrayal of Middleton.
Henry Ropner
In 2007, Middleton and the Pince briefly broke up. The Princess, per Marie Claire, left the country for Dublin with her mum and a group of friends to overcome the heartbreak. Amid the brief breakup, Middleton had a brief romance with Henry Ropner, who was the Prince’s Eton school friend. Reportedly, their brief romance had made the Prince particularly jealous. Eventually, the royal couple got back together, and the rest is history.
