Jujutsu Kaisen manga is on its last stretch, with Gege Akutami willing to wrap up their magnum opus before 2025. There seem to be multiple plot twists happening simultaneously in the manga. The powerful Jujutsu sorcerers are tasting defeat against the King of Curses. The latest chapter featured Miguel taking on Ryomen Sukuna. Jujutsu sorcerers have enlisted saving Megumi Fushiguro as their top priority.
The main protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori, managed to reach Megumi Fushiguro’s soul after landing a blow on Sukuna. He tried to persuade him to fight back, but the Ten-Shadows user had already sunk deep into despair. It led to one of the popular theories that he might overtake Sukuna and Kenjaku as the ultimate villain in Gege Akutami’s magnum opus.
Gege Akutami Has Other Plans For Megumi Fushiguro
Gege Akutami is the only mangaka who is equally loved and hated. People love them for their magnum opus and hate them for being biased towards certain characters. With the manga nearing its end, the fans have theorized a new theory surrounding Megumi Fushiguro. They believe it all to be Gege Akutami’s master plan. Instead of Kenjaku or Ryomen Sukuna, Megumi Fushiguro is set to be the final villain in Jujutsu Kaisen.
The theory claims that Megumi Fushiguro will start the merger with Tengen. Tengen is almost a thousand years old and has transformed into a curse. His last scheduled Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai, was assassinated by Toji Fushiguro. So, starting the merger will result in all of Japan’s citizens getting merged with Tengen to form a heavenly being. Kenjaku has been planning the scenario for hundreds of years.
Before his death, he transferred the authority to start the merger to Megumi. Megumi has nothing to lose. His sole duty was to protect his sister, which he failed to do, and unfortunately, his body and abilities were used to kill her. His sensei died, and his friends were getting killed one after the other. So, there is no place for him to go. Falling into deep despair, he might start the merger and cause doom for human civilization.
More than the merger, it is what lies afterward that scares everyone the most. There are millions of people in Japan, and even if one of them is cruel/ evil, it might lead to the creation of the most evil creature in the history of humanity. With so much cursed energy, it might pose a greater threat to everyone than the King of the Curses himself.
Megumi Fushiguro’s Shift in Personality Might Lead to Jujutsu Kaisen’s Biggest Plot Twist
Gege Akutami has openly admitted that they were inspired by Yu Yu Hakusho, especially by Sensei’s character. Sensui was a pure-hearted Spirit Detective, but certain circumstances made him fall into despair. Falling into despair made him stronger and join hands with the evil side. The cruel side of humanity is the reason why he changed his path. In the same manner, Megumi’s character might follow the same path.
Megumi Fushiguro has always been cited to have enough potential to become the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer. But each time, he had to rely on his friends. So, there was never any character development for the character. When Yuji tried to save him from Sukuna’s grasp, it further boosted the possibility of starting the merger. Suguru Geto protected the non-sorcerers, but Riko Amanai’s assassination changed him.
Every character goes through character development. While some show growth, others regress. Ryomen Sukuna has tried everything to send Megumi into despair, and it has worked. With nothing left to lose, he might finally have a personality shift and try to destroy everything in despair. But before that, he needs to take over his body, which is only possible if the King of Curses’ dies.
There is a lot of evidence for Megumi to turn evil. But it is still just a possibility for now. The manga is busy with the battle between Sukuna and Miguel. But with its end near, it might not be long for Gege Akutami to reveal their true motive. For now, the fans can only wait and watch.
