Online multiplayer games are about players fighting against each other. Regardless of which hero or villain a player will use, the terrain and landscape are essential factors in winning a fight, and the game is the perfect opportunity for the developers to highlight iconic locations.

NetEase Games has a lot to prove with this ambitious online multiplayer game and has the advantage of using a coterie of iconic fan-favorite heroes and villains of the Marvel brand. However, the gaming community is worried that it will follow in the footsteps of other multiplayer games like adding new cosmetic items in Marvel Rivals and using the game as a cash cow.

It would be wise for the developers to utilize everything available, not only characters or cosmetic items but also locations. Some fans are already suggesting new maps that would expand the universe and give the community a different perspective on how supervillains are being treated from within.

The live-action universe counterpart featured many iconic locations that will likely be used in the game, however, others are not getting their share of attention like detention centers for villains. Players can fight in the Big House where other supervillains are being held and they can see them in the background, it could also be the perfect opportunity to tease upcoming villains to bolster the roster like Martin Li’s Mr. Negative.

The developer should focus on different arenas and give the players more options. Other characters like Spider-Man have already won over most of the fans because of his unique traversal system and combat mechanics which could be emphasized even more in an open and rich environment for the players to swing around and make the most of his abilities.

Marvel Rivals Can Heavily Benefit by Exploring the Larger Marvel Universe

The developers recently announced that Adam Warlock and Venom will be added as new playable characters to the roster. These two characters come from different places in the Marvel universe and could be used for new map ideas to showcase how large the universe is.

It is time for NetEase Games to explore other options like stepping out of their comfort zone and taking risks by introducing lesser-known locations. It is on par with introducing more obscure characters like Peni Parker, a spider heroine from the Spider-Verse films as a playable character.

Other projects featured the Big House but not on the same level as movies or video games. The developers can change that and introduce the casual fans to a much richer and deeper lore in the comics.

Regardless, NetEase Games will have to include new content to avoid losing the fan’s interest, and the best way to do that is by going straight to the source. The comics are a treasure trove of ideas.
