The popularity of Arrowhead Game Studio’s Helldivers 2 is not hidden from anyone. This game is gradually increasing and getting better with every passing day. One thing that’s not happening is that it’s not coming to Xbox consoles anytime soon. Despite a bunch of Xbox owners asking for a port again and again, both developer Arrowhead Game Studios and publisher Sony have chosen not to respond.

As they wait for a response, Xbox owners are no doubt getting restless, and it makes sense too. The game has already been out for more than a month, and there’s no news of Xbox ports anywhere. Hence, these fans have decided to go the other way, finding a similar experience on Xbox itself. And Reddit has responded with three games as the best choices for this purpose.

Redditors define these Xbox games as their replacement for Helldivers 2

A still from Gears 5 Horde mode

For those wondering, Helldivers 2 is a very straightforward sci-fi third-person co-op game. Players are fighting a continuous galactic war in this game, a war that will not be anytime soon courtesy of game master Joel.

This means that to compete with Helldivers 2, a game has to meet certain criteria. It has to be a shooter; the camera position might not matter as much, but if it’s a third-person shooter, then it’s best. Then it should have a co-op mode. If possible, the game should also be a live service title, but it might not be that crucial of a requirement.

So, what games meet this criterion? If the Xbox owners of Reddit are to be believed, there are three games that can almost match this checklist. The first and most recommended of these games is Deep Rock Galactic.

This is a co-op first-person shooter set in space, developed by Ghost Ship Games. This game’s missions usually take place in a bunch of fully destructible, procedurally generated cave systems. Each of these caves has different enemies, hazards, and objectives, which would mostly depend on the biome and mission type.

A still from Halo Infinite

The second game that meets this criterion is none other than Gears 5. This is a proper third-person shooter, and visually, it looks just mind-blowing. If players invite their friends and go about playing the horde mode in this game, they would easily be able to get an experience somewhat similar to Helldivers 2.

Finally comes Halo Infinite, specifically its Firefight mode. For those unaware, Firefight mode in Halo Infinite is a co-op PVE mode where players have to get together and fight a bunch of AI-controlled enemies. These enemies would give players a good enough challenge combined with the classic fun Halo first-person mechanics.

Yes, these are the games that most people recommend to anyone looking for a Helldivers 2-like experience on Xbox. One of the Redditors, named Eglwyswrw even called these games his “co-op holy trinity.”

Ghost Ship Games is even asking for a Helldivers 2 crossover

A still from Deep Rock Galactic

What comes as a fun surprise is the fact that Ghost Ship Games, the developers of Deep Rock Galactic, have been trying to convince Arrowhead Game Studios to have a crossover. This would mean both games would receive some kind of content-themed after the other title.

Arrowhead Game Studios has yet to respond to this offer, but if it ever happens, one cannot help but wonder if Helldivers 2 content would come to the Xbox version of Deep Rock Galactic.
