His performance in season 1 was one of the best portrayals as he fit perfectly for the character of the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates. He not only looked the part, but he even performed his stunts and prepared for it physically which was a big thing for him as he had little experience in terms of combat and stunts.

However, there was one stunt in the One Piece live-action series season 1 that Skylar considered to be the most difficult stunt and because of that, it was almost removed from the series. Skylar discussed how he practiced for the stunt and how the actor was able to execute it just like the creators and fans wanted.

The Most Difficult Stunt Taz Skylar Had To Perform As Sanji

In an interview with Esquire Middle East, Skylar talked about the most difficult stunt he had to perform which involved kicking the Fishman in mid-air and landing perfectly. He explained how the stunt looked easy on the screen but was one of the most difficult things he had ever done.

Skylar stated:

“So there was this one where we jump over a pool, kick the Fishman mid-air, and land on a little rock. And that was all practicals! It was so difficult to do because he was underwater and they had to time pulling him out of the water at the exact same time that I jumped, and landing at the same place so that I could kick, and then there was another wire pull that took him to the other side of the pool. That must’ve taken an hour and a half which doesn’t sound like that much, but we were up against time.”

Taz Skylar explained how the stunt only took an hour and a half but as the crew was up against time, they had to execute it quickly and perfectly for the action sequence to make it to the cut. Skylar believed that if he did not pull the stunt perfectly, the creators might remove it from the series.

While explaining the process of the stunt, Skylar who did all of his stunts on his own talked about how he thought that if he was not able to pull the stunt off perfectly, the team would remove the action scene from the series and the stunt would never exist.

He stated:

“I remember thinking: “If we don’t get this, they’re going to cut it. They’re going to cut the stunt and this stunt will never exist.” It was the last take where we just managed it and they all looked at it and went “Cool, we got it! We can keep it!”, and we just started cheering. Isn’t it mad to think that there’s a world in which half an hour would’ve made the difference between it existing and not existing?”

According to Skylar, they were able to attempt the stunt perfectly at the last minute, and therefore it made it into the series, which later resulted in Skylar getting a lot of love and appreciation from fans. Now the actor is fully ready for season 2 and fans can’t wait to see the Live-Action Sanji do miracles.
