Sony’s video game journey began in 1993 through the amalgamation with Sony Music Entertainment Japan, giving birth to the first PlayStation. Since then, it has become the gold standard in the console business, and eventually in the gaming industry. From Tekken to Uncharted the company has achieved great feats not just in terms of quality but revenue too.
Recently, it conducted a vote to see what’s the fan-favorite game independent of the critics. Turns out, fans’ choice is different from the critics. Until now, the internet believed it was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves that made waves in the video games sector, but the finalists according to the latest votes have cleared the game’s name.
At Least Sony Now Knows Its Best Video Games Franchise on PlayStation
The latest poll Sony posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) shows God of War and God of War Ragnarök coming out as the final contenders for the fan-favorite games. Whoever wins, we now know the best franchise of the company. At press time, the poll has garnered 31,442 votes. It’s a close call as of now but the latter appears to be winning.

Began as a game based on Greek mythology featuring gods like Zeus, Ares, Cronos, and more in locations including Mount Olympus, it took a soft turn to bring Norse gods into play in 2018, a decision now appears to be right. The industry has seen games diverting from their roots and failing. Taking that into account, it also counts as a brave step.
Some fans had different opinions though, the post saw several comments where they supported Bloodborne, a game set in the Victorian era.
Glad you guys didn't put BLOODBORNE in, because you know it would have just sweeped 🙂

GoW did garner support in the comments with a user saying, “Ragnarok has great payoffs, and the Valhalla DLC is what makes it excel!”

Apart from Bloodborne, Ghost of Tsushima was another contender that fans believed would have made it to the top, should the company have chosen it to include in the poll.
Where The God of War Franchise is Going From Here
Now the players know who the leader is, the question remains what the next God of War game will explore? Given the godly narrative, the game has a plethora of options to choose from. However, the next GoW game will likely delve into Egyptian mythology as far as the latest rumors are concerned.
Moreover, the game is rumored to be getting a film adaptation. Here, the question arises who will fit the bill for Kratos? Again, multiple options ranging from Dwayne Johnson to Chris Pratt. However, Paul Michael Levesque, popularly known as Triple H, might already have beaten them to the finish line.
To this date, the GoW franchise has netted a healthy profit for the company and a movie might as well be a cherry on top of it. We cannot say for sure though when Sony has a mood swing and decides to cancel a project under wraps.
