The co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, has been working on his new DC Universe, will which serve as a soft reboot of the DCEU. This means that some actors from DCEU will return while others will be replaced. Fans have been concerned over the casting of Batman and Superman for quite some time now but some fans have already hailed actor Jensen Ackles as the new Batman. Will James Gunn hire Jensen Ackles for the role of Batman?
Recently, James Gunn, who is the co-CEO of DC Studios, replied to a question on his Threads account explaining that so far he has never cast an actor that has been suggested by the fans,
“When I’m casting a role I will sometimes see who fans have suggested online for folks I or my casting directors haven’t considered. Sometimes they have good ideas, sometimes terrible ones. I don’t remember it actually leading to someone being cast, however.”
On social media, many fans have been sharing pictures of actor Jensen Ackles as the new Batman. There are several ways to look at this statement but many fans have concluded that Gunn saw Ackles’ fan art and is implying that it is “terrible.”
Some fans are sure that James Gunn will not cast Jensen Ackles as Batman
Many fans on social media are not happy with the rumors about Jensen Ackles’ casting as Batman. A fan labeled it as a “bad idea,” and his post received more than 1,100 likes,
Fun fact:when James Gunn refers to “terrible ideas” he refers to the fancasting of Jensen Ackles and Oliver Jackson Cohen as Batman https://t.co/mSCFS60wGi

Ben Affleck to Jensen Ackles is such a downgrade lmao. I can see it but it’s lazy

Would be terrible. He’s too old. James Gunn has already confirmed Batman “might be a couple years older than Superman”. I don’t think 16 counts as “a couple”. They are going for a mid 30s Batman.

Nothing is confirmed as of now but fans can expect DC to make an announcement very soon. Due to the poor performance of some DCEU films, DC Studios decided to green-light this soft reboot. The new DC Universe will begin with the first chapter called Gods and Monsters, which will begin in 2024 with the animated series Creature Commandos. However, 2025’s Superman: Legacy will officially kick off the new universe.
