Robert De Niro pursued Whitney Houston several times
Being the queen of unmatched beauty and incredible voice, Houston never had a dearth of admirers. Numerous fans confessed love for her on various occasions, and the list also included the names of some Hollywood stars. One among them was actor Robert De Niro, who was charmed by her beauty. The actor had strong feelings for the singer and pursued her several times.
According to the singer’s best friend, Robyn Crawford, Robert De Niro was one of Houston’s early admirers. The Taxi Driver star pursued Houston multiple times, but she always rejected his advances.
Crawford shared in her 2019 memoir, A Song For You: My Life With Whitney Houston,
“She had trouble shaking [him].”
Crawford recalled that De Niro repeatedly made dinner invitations to Houston during the early days of her career. He rang her hotel room one night which made the singer think he had lost it.
Crawford recalled Houston saying, “He must be crazy.”
The singer eventually let De Niro down gently.

The gorgeous diva appeared on The Byron Allen Show in 1990, where she opened up about Robert De Niro’s intense admiration for her. The Preacher’s Wife actress shared,
“[He followed me] all the way to London. I think he was there already and he sent me flowers and everything. He’s been on my case, he’d been sweating me for a little while.”
Apparently, Houston was rumored to be casually dating actor Eddie Murphy. When asked how she was handling two Hollywood big stars swooning over her at the same time, Houston was left speechless. Allen revealed that both stars attended her show at Carnegie Hall.
Houston joked,
“Lord have mercy, I’m so popular, I can’t stand it. Yeah, he [De Niro] called me that night. He was a little bit shy so he didn’t want to come to the show. He shies away from the public eye. But since then, he had sending me flowers and he wanted to get to know me better.”
The actress also revealed that De Niro wanted to do a film with her. Houston shared that she admired his acting skills as she said, “I think he’s a wonderful actor, one of the best.”
The actress rejected Robert De Niro and others and finally married Bobby Brown in 1992. They were blessed with a daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, in March 1993.
