Although Sandra Bullock has appeared in more movies than we can count, she once acknowledged during a 2013 interview that not all of her auditions had gone well. By the late 1990s, she had established herself as a movie star, who could ensure box office success. She was the initial choice by casting directors because of the success of her movies.

However, Jennifer Lopez, another actress, was starting to gain popularity at the same time. After her lead role in Selena, the then-aspiring actress became one of Hollywood’s newest rising stars. She was getting jobs with some of the biggest names in the business.

As a result, there became tough competition between the two actresses.

One particular film was 1998′s Out Of Sight, in which she and George Clooney both gave outstanding performances, which has won the actress praise from critics and viewers alike. Sandra Bullock, however, had a situation in which she could have easily assumed the role of the star.

Bullock’s friendship with Clooney has endured over the years, despite the fact that Lopez ultimately landed the coveted role in Out Of Sight.

“They didn’t want me for the film [Out Of Sight] and I was like, ‘Oh, our friendship is so over.’”

Jennifer Lopez had ultimately landed the part, and she gave her own account of how things turned out with Bullock.

“Universal was pushing for Sandra Bullock because they said she’d put people in seats. George and the director met with her, but they were like, ‘If Sandra really wants it, she’s gonna have to test for it.’ She wouldn’t test, and her agent, who is also my agent, supported that. If I was Sandy, I’d say, ‘Well, I’m gonna show them that I can do it. I’ll read with them, make them offer me the part, then make them pay out the as*.”

Lopez starred in the 2002 thriller/crime drama, Enough. She portrayed a domestic abuse victim who managed to flee from her violent husband in the movie.

Bullock was initially expected to fill the role. Variety, however, claimed that she withdrew as a result of scheduling issues with another movie she was working on. Michael Apted, who directed the movie, admitted to E! that he was initially apprehensive about working with Lopez because of rumors about her diva-like behavior.

“You hear all the legends about his difficult she is and its going to be hard to get through it and all this kind of stuff, and then we met and we got on. But then there was a kind of gap between us agreeing to do it and starting to rehearse and during that time I could never get a hold of her. She was always so busy. And I thought, oh my god, this is a big, tough job and if she isn’t going to be around, how are we going to get through it?”
