The DC universe has been massively shifting from its initial roots from the Snyderverse under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. The duo has made some tough calls to shut down the dying DCEU and start over in a new direction.

But amidst all the reshuffling, some characters are moving forward in the new James Gunn-led DC, including his wife Jennifer Holland. Although Jennifer Holland has appeared in several DC projects previously, her inclusion in the upcoming Shazam sequel has embarked some spark in the fandom.

Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt to appear in the Shazam sequel

It appears that James Gunn and DC studios have further plans for Zachary Levi’s Shazam in the new DCU. According to the reports by Chippu, Shazam! Fury of the Gods will contain two post-credit scenes, in which Jennifer Holland is reportedly reprising her role of Emilia Harcourt in the first credit.

Jennifer Holland previously appeared in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, while also appearing for a brief moment in the recent Black Adam. It appears that DC is planning a sort of Maria Hill designation for the character in the universe. According to reports by Chippu, she is rumored to appear in the first post-credit scene of the Shazam sequel, where she asks Billy Batson to join the Justice Society of America.

It seems that DC is using her to bind the scattered universe together and will keep on playing the right hand for Amanda Waller in the upcoming future, which was portrayed in Peacemaker. But apart from her cameo, the second post-credit scene is reportedly bringing back Dr. Sivana from the last movie alongside Mr. Mind in their most lethal form.

Fans call out James Gunn for Nepotism in the studio

Although her inclusion in DC projects seems like a tool to bind the scattered universe, fans believe in other shady reasons for her inclusion in numerous DC IPs. Twitter has erupted after hearing about her inclusion in the Shazam sequel and even calling it pointless.

Even though Emilia Harcourt has previously appeared in a bunch of DC movies, fans believe it has something to do with her status of being the DC Boss James Gunn’s wife. And the fans who have been disrupted by the axing of Henry Cavill from the DC found another reason to call out James Gunn for favoritism tactics.

Although from a creative standpoint, her inclusion doesn’t feel out of place, considering DC’s attempt to make her a sort of Maria Hill-type character but with more depth. But it’s reasonable why some fans found her inclusion in various projects a little off, considering she has the same number of appearances in the DC universe as of Henry Cavill’s superman.

With James Gunn releasing the slate for the initial chapter of his long-term DC universe, it appears that Jennifer Holland is going to play a crucial role among other metahuman storylines. But it’s almost certain that Zachary Levi’s Shazam is also in good hands moving forward.
