Imagine the following scene: it is an Oscar night, and the atmosphere is filled with thrills, stars, and glamour. The afterparties are in full swing as Hollywood’s biggest stars gather to celebrate their successes. And what would an afterparty be without a little unexpected fun? Well, similar things happened with Florence Pugh and her mother.
The actress, who will next appear as Princess Irulan in Dune: Part Two, recently admitted that her mother “disappeared for an hour” at an Oscars party a couple of years ago. And when she came back, she was “high” with Snoop Dogg.
It was at the after-party that Snoop met Pugh’s mother. This was where the story took a surprising turn. Snoop, who has been an outspoken cannabis smoker since the beginning of his career, may have offered Pugh’s mom a little taste of his famous herbal delights. Yes, you read that right—he got her “high”!
When Florence Pugh Confronted Snoop Dogg Over His Strange Relationship With Her Mother
Florence Pugh’s mother, Deborah Mackin, and Snoop Dogg had a strangely intimate interaction during the 2020 Oscars (via PEOPLE). On Thursday night, the actress played a game of ‘True or False?’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live with some of her castmates from Dune: Part Two. She revealed that her mother got “high with Snoop Dogg” during an Academy Awards ceremony.
Following her nomination for her Little Women role, Pugh, 28, said that her parents accompanied her to the Award ceremony. Regaining her composure from laughter, she then told Jimmy Kimmel and her co-stars, Austin Butler, Timothée Chalamet, and Zendaya:
“We went to the afterparties and… my mom disappeared for an hour. She came back and she’d… got high with Snoop Dogg.”
Pugh then recalled meeting the 52-year-old rapper in 2023 during a party for her acclaimed flick, Oppenheimer. The actress went on, echoing his exact tone:
“I was like, ‘You… you got my mom high’.”
Dogg then insisted, according to Pugh, that they send her mother a video message that was rather intimate:
“And he was like, ‘Where is she?’ So, I sent my mom a video of Snoop Dogg being like, ‘Where are you, baby? I miss you!’”
Did you know that the Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told hitmaker declared he was quitting smoking in November 2023? Sound strange?
Snoop Dogg Explained The True Intent of ‘Giving Up Smoke’
At the end of the previous year, Snoop Dogg made a surprising announcement to the world: he was “giving up smoke”. It seemed like he was making reference to his long-standing marijuana use. All the same, it seemed that the 52-year-old’s sobriety rumors were greatly overblown.
Snoop posted to X on November 16, 2023:
I’m giving up smoke. pic.twitter.com/DDVl9Syixw

Later on, though, he acknowledged that his confession had been made purely for the purpose of promoting the Solo Stove brand of smokeless steel fire pits. A 30-second commercial featured Snoop saying.
“I have an announcement, I’m giving up smoke. I know what you thinking, ‘Snoop! Smoke is kind of your whole thing! But I’m done with it. I’m done with the coughing and my clothes smelling all stinky-icky. I’m going smokeless. Solo Stove fixed fire, they took out the smoke. Clever.”
In a March 2023 Daily Mail interview, Snoop acknowledged cutting back on his marijuana use, though it is possible he will not be giving up the chronic. He explained:
“Being a grandfather has changed me in multiple ways. The main way is being concerned with how I live, how I move, the kind of people I’m associated with, because I want to see my grandkids grow old. The only way I can do that is to take precautionary steps as far as how I move, who I hang out with, where I go out, my intake, what am I intaking? … I just don’t want to do this to my body anymore. I want to survive.”
It goes without saying that smoking, in any form, is unhealthy.
If anything, this tale highlights Dogg’s loose spirit and his ability to bring joy to unexpected situations. Though his fame stems from his love of music and cannabis, he also knows how to make moments that people will remember for years to come. And in this case, it includes that cute message to Florence Pugh’s mother.
Also, Dune: Part Two is set to release on March 1, 2024.
