One of the things Marvel fans are anticipating is the much-awaited showdown between Spider-Man and Venom, but it seems they put their hopes up too high. A scene from the latest trailer of Venom: The Last Dance showed that the symbiote left in Spider-Man: No Way Home has been captured.

Now, it might be too early to suspect that fans will no longer witness a classic Spider-Man and Venom fight after previous statements from the producer.

Venom: The Last Dance Trailer Hints Venom Versus Spider-Man Might Not Happen

The trailer for Tom Hardy’s Venom: The Last Dance showed what every fan wants to see in an R-rated superhero movie. In one of the scenes, a piece of symbiote left on Earth-616 was captured by Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character, which somehow hints that there’s no way it would meet Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

It’s clear that the third Venom film commences right away after the events in No Way Home. The post-credits scene in Holland’s film ignited fans’ hope that he would finally meet Hardy’s character. The latest trailer just messed that up and took away all possibilities.

Producer Amy Pascal once told Fandango via Yahoo! News that they are aware of fans’ anticipation to see a clash between Venom and Spider-Man.

Everybody would love to see that. You never know someday… it might happen.

She noted that they have “big plans for Tom Holland to be a part of everything” and hopefully that would include Venom. But after the official synopsis of the film was released, it already confirmed that this is “the final film in the trilogy.”

It does not mean though that Venom would stop to exist. He might still appear in other Sony’s Spider-Man Universe installments. Fans would recall an industry insider once shared: “Movie Venom is also so much fun I can’t wait to see him and Tom Holland’s Spidey fight (sooner than you think).”

The source is quite a hit-and-miss with their scoops so it’s always better to take this rumor with a grain of salt. After all, there are still a lot of opportunities for Spider-Man and Venom to meet in future installments. Who knows what would happen to that leftover symbiote after it was captured?

Fans were thrilled to watch the latest trailer of Venom: The Last Dance and many also took notice of the scene where they captured the symbiote on the bar table. This scene already opens room for discussion on the future of Venom now that it wraps up its trilogy. Marvel and Sony could only be teasing fans after they seemingly extinguished hopes for a crossover.

In any case, that scene was a good marketing strategy to get fans talking. Hopefully, the upcoming sequel will justify how on earth a No Way Home scene appeared in Venom 3.
