The Saw franchise has had a successful track record with its success in all nine films of the franchise. This winning streak is a rare feat in horror films. Along with The Conjuring franchise, the Saw films are significant reminders of low-budget films doing great business at the box office. The first Saw directed by James Wan is a classic among horror fans. The authentic scares, gory presentation, and eerie atmosphere are what separates the franchise from other horror flicks.

The Saw franchise had a recent release with the tenth installment Saw X on September 29, 2023. The director of the film Kevin Greutert recently talked about the making of the film. He also narrated a hilarious anecdote of how the police got involved when he was busy editing the film with his assistant editor Steve Forn. He told NME,

“There was a knock at the door. We have the doorbell [camera] video of the police walking up saying, ‘The neighbors [have been] calling and saying someone’s being tortured to death in here. And he was like, ‘Actually, I’m just working on a movie. You can come in and see it if you want?’ The cops started laughing! They said, ‘We want to but, you know, you’re all right. It must have been a pretty realistic performance!’ It’s a pretty funny story… Plus Steve is such a mild-mannered guy. I can only imagine the look on his face when he realized what was happening!”

The scene in question involved a lot of screaming and disturbing background sound tuned up to a high volume. Thus it is reasonable for someone to think that a gruesome murder or assault is taking place nearby. The anecdote itself is pretty hilarious and interesting to know about.

Despite the name, the events of Saw X take place just after the first Saw film. Thus, it will involve the return of the much beloved (and feared) Jigsaw from the first film. In addition to him, the director of the film Kevin Greutert has teased the appearance of Jigsaw’s apprentice Amanda Young, and her role in the film. He told GamesRadar+,

“I would say that she’s a major character in this story and I really wanted to explore that area between what we see in Saw 1 where she’s a very vulnerable recovering drug addict and the kind of sassy rebel in Saw 3 but Saw 2 in a way doesn’t really count as character development for her except to show that she’s working with Jigsaw but she’s playing the role for the other characters that are trapped in Saw 2, so this is an opportunity to sort of develop her character more.”

Audiences are anxious about the return of the terrifying Jigsaw and his various deadly games that are inflicted on his victims. Saw X is currently running in theatres.
