The images captured by Just Jared created a huge splash online. Of course, as the movie is being filmed in real locations rather than in confined studio spaces, it is prone to attract paparazzi. DC’s Shazam! was shot in Toronto and had to endure several leaks as well. Most recently, DC rival Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine faced a similar issue.

As it is widely conceived, The Engineer will be an antagonist in the movie, but in the comics, the character belongs to The Authority, a group of DC anti-heroes.

As the leaked images from the Superman set hit mass media, fans couldn’t help but notice certain changes in the character of The Engineer. The Duel and Crossing Point star de Faria appeared in a black leather suit instead of her silver skin in the comics. Also, Gunn has changed the haircut of the character. With the changes, fans are wondering what Gunn is actually cooking and what his version of the character might entail.

As The Engineer belongs to The Authority, the movie might be just the stepping stone for the character, creating further room for her development in The Authority movie, which is reportedly in development. Superman is on the right track to meet the deadline, per James Gunn’s Threads, who is currently filming the major scenes of the movie in Svalbard, Norway.

Superman is scheduled for a July 11, 2025 release.
