It’s time to bid farewell to Baldur’s Gate 3.

In a Steam community page post, Vincke reflected on the success of its latest RPG and hinted at the exciting projects the studio has in the pipeline. After receiving the opportunity to craft a game set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, the studio poured their hearts and souls into creating the latest Baldur’s Gate title.

However, Vincke revealed that there won’t be any major new narrative content, or expansions, for the game and there isn’t a Baldur’s Gate 4 in the works. As an independent studio since 1996, it prides itself on the freedom to pursue passion projects. With six years dedicated to the Forgotten Realms, the team has decided to start working on its IPs.

It’s currently working on two new projects, and many fans hope they’re sequels to Divinity: Original Sin and Dragon Commander. While details about these projects are still kept on the down-low, Vincke assured fans that the essence of the new Baldur’s Gate—immersive storytelling and player-driven experiences—will remain intact. Vincke shared his enthusiasm, stating:

I don’t know if we’re going to pull it off, but looking at our narrative, visual, and gameplay plans, I think what we’re working on now will be our best work ever.

As the studio shifts its focus toward these new ventures, rest assured, that its next project will be a memorable one.

Well, the studio isn’t completely abandoning the project, of course. Patch 7 is on the way, and players can expect better evil endings, for those that are into that sort of thing. This update promises to deliver a more intense journey for all players, regardless of what path you choose.

Additionally, the new cutscenes have been given amazing music scores by Larian’s own BAFTA award-winning composer, Borislav Slavov, elevating the game’s cinematic experience and immersion.

Patch 7 will address various reported bugs and issues within the game, such as character behavior quirks and dialogue inconsistencies. And one of the biggest parts of the update is the introduction of official modding tools.

You’ll be able to change animations, visuals, stats, and so on. Let the modding begin! Despite no chance for any major content expansions or DLCs, it’s undoubtedly nice to see the studio continue to put so much hard work into the game. We can’t wait to see what it has in store for its upcoming projects.
