Although the movie failed to withstand studios’ expectations, it still holds great importance in the former’s professional life. In a new interview, the Euphoria star shared her insights on Madame Web, deeming it a smart career move.

Sydney Sweeney’s Thoughts on Working in Madame Web

The 26-year-old actress has emerged as an outstanding talent in the entertainment industry, receiving widespread acclaim for her performances in both Euphoria and The White Lotus. Was it a bad career move for Sydney Sweeney to get involved in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe? Not at all, as the actress believes that the project was a “strategic business” move for her.

She shared in an interview with GQ

“To me, that film was a building block, it’s what allowed me to build a relationship with Sony. Without doing Madame Web I wouldn’t have a relationship with the decision-makers over there.”

She continued,

“Everything in my career I do not just for that story, but strategic business decisions. Because I did that, I was able to sell Anyone But You. I was able to get Barbarella.”

With her statement, it’s clear that her career opportunities are something she chooses meticulously, giving her fruitful results in the long run. While her journey in the SSU was not what she expected it to be, she’s still open to returning to the franchise.

Sydney Sweeney is Open to Returning in the Spider-Man Universe!

Despite the highly anticipated superhero film bombed at the box office, it is less likely to bother Sweeney who expressed her desire to be back in the franchise. Having portrayed the character of Julia Cornwall aka Spider-Woman in the movie, she is down to return to the franchise.

In the same interview, she stated,

“I think that if the story is right and you have the right team, I would love to.”

She also seems to be unbothered by the film’s negative reviews as she added,

“The movie is such a large movie with so many people involved. I was just hired as an actor and [am] happy to bring to life a character that my little cousins are excited about. There’s no outcome I can control on a film like that, especially when I’m not a producer. You sign up for whatever happens and you take the ride.”

While Sweeney is keeping her doors open for any probable opportunities in the SSU, the lead protagonist, Dakota Johnson thinks otherwise. She has already made herself clear about not doing anything like that again.
