MCU’s What If…? Season 3 will see Jeffrey Wright’s Watcher evolve

According to reports by The Direct, Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum had noted that Jeffrey Wright’s character of The Watcher who also serves as the narrator of the series will evolve in the coming season. He said,

“The fact that we have What If…?, going into a third season, it means that we can go a little deeper with these characters, especially the Watcher. It’s a Multiverse story, they’re standalone stories, but there is a serialized aspect to it because there’s this narrator who…he loves the subjects of these stories, he’s the ultimate fan boy.”

Winderbaum further explained that Wright’s Watcher is watching, like everyone and he loves these characters just like everyone else does. He notes,

“So we can dig in a little deeper into what makes him tick in the second season, and then into third season, we kind of get to know his humanity a lot more.”

Director Bryan Andrews during an interview with ComicBook.com was asked about the release of season three, to which he shared,

“I thought that it could come out at the end of the year in 2024 possibly, but that would be tight. There’s some other group of people that are masterminding when things release and they’re moving things on the board, and I don’t know where we exist on that at this moment.”

Fans are excited to see season three of the animated series noting that it tends to explore storylines that are sometimes beyond one’s imagination which makes it interesting to watch.

Season one & two of What If…? Is streaming on Disney+.
