Gosling’s co-star, Emily Blunt joined the conversation, “It’s showing the whole world, the whole world of being on a movie set, the birth of their relationship, and all of it,” the British actor said of the scene that scared the Drive star. Despite the intense and intimidating scene, Gosling revealed that the dynamics of it is the most fun job in the world.

“The family of a set, the dynamic. It’s just the most fun job. One of the most fun jobs in the world. I think David did such a great job of communicating that.”

That elevator went up fast which also scared the Oppenheimer star “a little bit.” “It goes up 12 stories,” Gosling said adding, “At the end, I put on sunglasses because I had terrified owl eyes, and I couldn’t hide it.” However, he did not want to let go of the rope.

“And then you let go, and you literally go, [gestures a thumbs up]. I was like, “Oh god, that bit must’ve been awful,” Blunt said.

Gosling and Blunt were fresh out of the 2024 Oscars and both were the wild cultural phenomenon, ‘Barbenheimer’ that shook the world with two movies— Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. The duo shined in The Fall Guy with their charismatic abilities to make the action comedy work. Guymon Casady, the producer of the movie reflected on the chemistry of the duo during a chat with ScreenRant at SXSW.

“[Emily and Ryan] so good and I can’t wait for people to experience them together. You did see a precursor at the Oscars, but one of the things that was so great was that we had conceived the movie as The Fall Guy, starring Colt Seavers, Ryan Gosling. But when we were fortunate enough to get Emily to join the movie, we realized it was a real opportunity to then write to that character and really write to that relationship. That role became much more significant than it had originally been [after casting Emily]. It really evolved and she is a major part of this movie.”

The Fall Guy created a huge buzz ahead of the release of the movie and broke a huge stunt record as the movie went on to be a tribute to the stunt community. Also, the movie has been a critical darling.

The Fall Guy is now showing in select theaters.
