Delving into the nightmares of many millennials, the Saw franchise still stands out as a menacing presence in the world of cinema to this day with the release of Saw X drawing closer. This thrilling series, centered around the twisted games played by the actor Tobin Bell’s iconic character, John ‘Jigsaw’ Kramer, swiftly captured fans’ hearts in its early days, propelling it into the exclusive billion-dollar franchise club at great speed. While Bell’s character’s menacing vibes are felt throughout the film, his actual presence is limited to the first three installments since he dies in Saw III.

Saw X Producers Regret Killing off Jigsaw for This Reason!

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Mark Burg and Oren Koules, the executive producers of Saw X, candidly admitted to regretting the decision to kill off Tobin Bell‘s Jigsaw in his own franchise. The producers, who had been involved since day one, reflected on the unique choice made during Saw III in 2006. They said,

“If I had to do it again, I might not have killed Tobin Bell in ‘Saw III’. That might have been a mistake.”

Although the installment showcased Bell’s character, John Kramer, orchestrating even more sinister traps, it tragically marked his demise as he succumbed to cancer. Despite his death, Jigsaw continued to haunt the series, persistently reappearing through flashbacks in subsequent films. Since then, the timeline of the films that followed has proven challenging for fans to keep track of. While nothing is impossible for the Saw fans, the producers wish to have approached this decision differently, which would have ensured an even smoother 20-year run than it already has been. If they had known the shape that the franchise would end up taking and the immense public demand for it, they would never have made that decision.

What Can the Fans Expect From Saw X?

To rectify the decision that haunts both the executive producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules, the storyline of Saw X undergoes a complete hard reset, that could possibly help them out of the graves they dug themselves into. Set a mere three weeks after the events of the original Saw, the film follows a weak and cancer-stricken Kramer going on a journey to Mexico City in search of a unique treatment, desperately trying to save his own life, all while scheming and plotting his menacing set of traps.

When asked about what else could potentially follow this movie, Burg replied,

“We’re superstitious, so we’ve never talked about the following ‘Saw’ until the previous movie opens. So if this movie works on October 2, we’ll sit down,–We left it open-ended, and I want to see what happens next.”

Overall, fans are eagerly anticipating how Jigsaw tricks his victims in this new installment, and therefore simply can’t wait to see what unfolds.
