Who doesn’t remember and love the roll-dasing blue hedgehog of the Sonic video game series from Sega, and who doesn’t love Jim Carrey‘s performances with his iconic comical traits in films? When you combine these two attributes, you get the unforgettably quirky performance of the star as Dr. Robotnik, or as he’s better known by his video game identity, Eggman.

When the star first appeared as the aforementioned villain in the first Sonic The Hedgehog, the internet went wild, with many claiming to instantly fall in love with the film as they witnessed both Sonic as well as the Bruce Almighty in the film. But after the first one, the star revealed that he may never return for another film in the pre-planned franchise.

Fast forward to 2024, and not only did the star return for a second film, but recent reports of the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog 3 have confirmed that he would be reprising his role as Eggman in the franchise once more.

This will be his third time playing the role of the villain from the Sonic universe, which is surprising since he made it clear that the sequels of any film are not his cup of tea. Thus, his constant return from taking a break from acting for this particular role may indicate that the star has taken a heavy liking for this character’s portrayal on the big screen.

Along with his unique red and black roll dash aura being abundantly clear from the trailer, Shadow was also revealed to be a part of the Sonic universe during the end-credit scenes from the last film. Thus, with the entry of this dark dasher, people are also expecting the appearance of Rogue, another beloved character from the video game series that is often seen accompanying Shadow.
