The case of Warrior Nun (2020- 2022) on Netflix has been a tumultuous one as the steamer had already canceled the series after the second season. Ardent fans of the show campaigned for the renewal and continuation of the show, be it on another streamer, owing to the second season receiving an unprecedented 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. While Netflix has never disclosed the reasons behind its cancellation, it has not stopped fans from campaigning for its renewal, even creating a petition for it. Fortunately, it seems that all the love and support from the fans have paid off.

As reported by Deadline, Warrior Nun will return as a film trilogy. It is yet unclear whether Netflix will back up these projects or it will be a theatrical release strategy, but the efforts have paid off. This is a very promising update for the Alba Baptista-led project after the disappointment owing to its cancellation on Netflix. Sharing the news, executive producer Dean English expressed his happiness saying,

“I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures. Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.”

Fans of the show will be ecstatic hearing about this news, as their beloved show will return in a cinematic form. Adding to it, it will be released as not just one but three movies, which is far more than they bargained for. It reminds one of the release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League which was bolstered by much fanfare and campaigning similar to what happened with Warrior Nun.

The case of Warrior Nun is another unique example where canceled projects that have been discarded for whatever reasons by studios or streamers are revived. Even though Netflix had no interest or did not see the potential of the series going forward, the fans loved the show and embraced it. It is a classic example of not losing hope whatever hurdles come one’s way.

As long as one continues to put out quality products that audiences enjoy and appreciate, they are going to be wanting more. Just like what happened with Justice League, the promising news about the revival of Warrior Nun is a prime example of the power of fans and their importance in the longevity of a product.

Another good news shared by English regarding the revival was the possibility of creating a Warrior Nun Universe consisting of films and shows. He said,

“Some may ask, ‘Does this perhaps infer that there’s going to be a universe being launched of Warrior Nun, which could expand into films and TV series following characters that we already know?’ The answer to that question is yes. And there will be more details in the future.”

Suffice to say, great things await the future of Warrior Nun. The first two seasons of the show are available on Netflix to stream.
