Zack Snyder’s dreams of rebooting the entire DC universe were short-lived, and the filmmaker was pushed out before he could create a conclusive enough world. While fans were disappointed to see him go, they have pretty much backtracked and are excited to have James Gunn helm the superhero universe now.

A former Marvel director, Gunn has already proven his capabilities in the genre and will be directing the first DCU film, Superman. However, fans are not happy after hearing the recent update about the movie and believe Gunn is making the same mistake as Snyder.

James Gunn and Zack Snyder are both auteurs and incredible filmmakers. Yet, DC fans have not been kind to Snyder for his dark take on the mythos and seem to hate him with a passion. As for Gunn, knowing his feats in the MCU, fans are more welcoming and excited as he is busy rebooting the entire DC-verse.

The first DC movie ever, under Gunn, would be Superman. Starring David Corenswet in the lead, the movie will be a more traditional take on the character and features Superman coming to terms with his Kryptonian heritage as well as his Earthy upbringing.

However, apart from several iconic Superman characters, the movie is also expected to feature several members of the Justice League, a feat that fans believe is going to be similar to Snyder’s Batman vs Superman. Featuring characters like Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and more (via The Direct), the film will not only kickstart the entire DCU but is also expected to bring the Justice League together.

Yet, fans are unsure about it all and believe James Gunn will be making more or less the same mistake as his DC predecessor by introducing too many characters and cramping up the tale.

James Gunn is a visionary as far as comic book projects are concerned. The filmmaker took a bunch of unknown and ignored Marvel characters and transformed them into some of the most fan-favorite characters of all time. Not only did he pretty much change the MCU with his Guardians of the Galaxy saga, but he also successfully introduced several important characters.

Yet, fans seem to doubt Gunn’s capabilities and allege he is following Snyder’s path of Batman vs Superman by making Superman allegedly confusing and overstuffed.

While many vouched for Gunn and stated he would do a great job handling several characters at once, others felt disheartened over the fact that more characters would steal the spotlight from Superman.

As the speculation and fan wars continue, it is worth remembering that James Gunn’s track record in the superhero genre has been incredible. And that he is more than capable of delivering an exceptional Superman movie that would hopefully not make the same mistakes as its predecessors.
