But as much as he has succeeded in keeping the fans of the superhero universe from all across the globe on their toes through his super-frequent teasing and updates on everything, he still seems to be lagging. This comes after a majority of the fan reaction to his wishes on this day is ostensibly demanding the very thing that he just won’t give us: The final reveal of Kal-El’s superhero suit.

James Gunn, is it Even Happy Superman Day if you won’t do a Superman Suit Reveal?

Amidst the sea of teasers, hints, and updates on the progress of his upcoming superhero movie starring David Corenswet in the lead, Gunn has given yet another briefing related to Kal-El’s universe: The 18th of April officially marks the ‘Superman Day’ in the DC Universe.

This is because over eight and a half decades ago back in 1938, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster first gave birth to someone to believe in, not because of his great physical power, but because of his character and determination to do right no matter what.”

Adding to this message was a ‘Happy Superman Day’ message to all the DC fans from all around the world, who had been patiently awaiting more from the co-CEO on this very special day. As Gunn took to his X handle @JamesGunn to share:

But, as mentioned above, fans aren’t happy with this dry congratulatory message. This is because they were expecting something more from James Gunn on this special day, and by something more, we mean the final reveal of the suit Corenswet will be sporting as Kal-El in the upcoming movie.

Since previously, Gunn very candidly shared a sneak peek first reveal of the superhero’s costume — only the iconic ‘S’ symbol — on Kent’s birthday, it is only understandable that fans expected to see the full reveal of his costume when he transforms into the fan-favorite Kryptonian.

However, all they got this time was an image of Corenswet (Clark Kent), Gunn, and Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) busily scanning through the pages of the forever-deemed-perfect comics of the Man of Steel.

This is why, despite being happy with this news, they couldn’t help but complain about the very thing they’ve been demanding all along but are yet to get.

Will Gunn reveal Kal-El’s superhero suit?

While fans are sincerely enjoying all of these updates and genuinely appreciate Gunn for keeping them constantly on their toes with excitement about the upcoming movie, they are also disappointed with him just dryly congratulating fans without providing any key update on an iconic day like this.

In fact, some are even bringing about the tweet he made on the 2nd of December, 2023, claiming he would reveal the suit “on the 18th of April, 2024.” All in all, taking to social media, here’s how they are reacting and demanding to see the super-suit on X:

Though it currently seems unlikely, the day is still yet to unfold completely, and Gunn knows just how to surprise his fans in the most pleasing way. That said, there just might be chances that Gunn could reveal the costume later today. Who knows? He is full of surprises, after all!
