Famous for starring in the Mike Myers-led Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Elizabeth Hurley will be headlining her son’s directorial debut, set to release next month. Amidst the controversy surrounding the erotic thriller following Hurley’s steamy scenes in the movie, which were shot by her son Damian Hurley, the actress expressed that the experience was liberating.
While watching s-x scenes unfold onscreen alongside their children can be awkward for many parents, the actress said having her son behind the lens for Strictly Confidential was relaxing.
Elizabeth Hurley Felt Safe Having Her Son Film the Steamy Scenes in Strictly Confidential
Known to capture Elizabeth Hurley’s bikini shoots for her social media posts, Damian Hurley’s directorial debut will star the Austin Powers star at the forefront. While some eyebrows were raised following her son filming the steamy scenes, addressing this situation, the actress revealed that she felt “safe and looked after” to have her son behind the lens. Considering the script, written by her son, needed her to perform things she hadn’t done many times before, having her son direct and manage the post-production was relaxing for the actress.
She said (via Access Hollywood),
“It’s just, it’s relaxing knowing someone’s behind the camera who looks out for you, which was the same on this movie in a way, because you know the things that his script needed me to do in this weren’t necessarily things I had always done in movies many times before, but having him there meant that I felt safe and looked after… I knew that in production, in the post, I knew he would look after me.”
This might not be the last time we see the mom and son duo together in showbiz, as following the liberating experience she had working with her family, Hurley expressed she “may do it again”.
Elizabeth Hurley Fulfilled Her Decade-Long Promise to Her Son With Strictly Confidential
With Strictly Confidential, which wrapped filming in the Caribbean within 18 days, the actress fulfilled her decade-long promise to Damian Hurley, which she made in 2010. The 21-year-old, who worked with her mother on The Royals, recalled the actress promising him to star in his first feature when he was eight. And it didn’t take long for Elizabeth Hurley to fulfill her promise after Damian Hurley’s first feature was greenlit.
He recalled (via People),
“During the making of my first-ever short film back in 2010 when I was 8, my mother promised me she’d be in my first feature. True to her word, the minute Strictly Confidential was green-lit, my mother dropped everything and raced out to the Caribbean to help,”
Similar to the Austin Powers Star, who entertained the idea of collaborating with her son again, the 21-year-old stressed that the upcoming feature would be their first of many movies together.
Strictly Confidential will be released in selected theatres on April 5, 2024.
