Kirkman’s creation Omni-Man is a similar all-powerful being in the known universe in the Invincible world. Omni-Man is similar to Superman in many ways, with both being alien entities who have escaped their home worlds to be on Earth and have superhuman abilities. Despite the similarities, fans seem to disagree with Robert Kirkman about Omni-Man winning the hypothetical battle.

While many fans might not be able to come to a definitive answer for the winner of the battle between Omni-Man and Superman, Invincible creator Robert Kirkman seems to have a choice. The comic book writer has been the man behind many legendary comics such as The Walking Dead, Outcast, Oblivion Song, and more, and has also worked on X-Men comics.

Robert Kirkman has reportedly mentioned that Omni-Man would win in a battle between his creation and Superman. Though the character is Superman-inspired in his abilities and identity as an alien being, Kirkman mentioned recently again to IGN that he has received a lot of flack for choosing Omni-Man over the DC superhero.

When the host of IGN Fan Fest 2024 told him that she would not ask him to choose, a relieved Robert Kirkman said,

“Good! That discussion usually ends with people on the Internet mad at me because I say that Superman is lame. And that Omni-Man will obviously beat Superman. So, I don’t want to say that again and get people mad at me all over again. Even though it is true.”

Well, it seems like the Internet got mad at him all over again for reiterating his opinion, with many calling Omni-Man a Superman clone. Social media was rife with debates on who would win, with many fans taking the side of Superman in the hypothetical battle.

While the debate can never be settled unless an actual battle is depicted in the show, Robert Kirkman might vehemently oppose whatever decisions are made unless they go his way.

Omni-Man V/S Superman: Who Would Win?

Robert Kirkman’s Invincible follows the story of Mark Grayson, a high-schooler who begins to develop superpowers as he is the son of the extra-terrestrial being Omni-Man. The latter is depicted as a ruthless being with superhuman abilities such as flight, super-strength, and speed, making him the most powerful being in the universe, within the comics.

Omni-Man is a descendant of the alien race of Viltrum, who send Omni-Man to Earth to check for its habitability. The superhuman migrates to the planet to establish a base for the Viltrum to come and colonize it. Omni-Man has often been regarded as ruthless and loyal to the Viltrum race and does not find any humanity in himself to help the people of Earth initially.

Superman is one of the most iconic superheroes, who similarly possesses superhuman abilities such as super-strength, speed, laser-eye, freeze-breath, and flight, among others. A descendant of Krypton, Superman is sent to Earth by his parents while the planet is destroyed. He has a strict moral code and grows to become the epitome of heroism.

Since both superheroes contain similar abilities, there can be no definitive answer to who would win in a fight between them. While Superman can be written to win the battle due to his moral code, it entirely depends on the direction the writers would want to take. Both Omni-Man and Superman are the most powerful beings in their universes and either’s victory would involve other conditions. While Superman’s weakness includes Kryptonite, Omni-Man’s only weakness seems to be his susceptibility to human emotions.

Invincible is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The show’s Part 2 of Season 2 begins streaming on March 14.
