Despite the combined power of these massive stars, the film was a box-office disaster, earning only $18.4 million against a $35 million budget.
Penélope Cruz mentioned on the talk show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross about an incident that occurred while she traveling on a flight with Salma Hayek. Apparently, there was some issue with the plane and the oxygen masks were handed to the passengers, which led to Cruz having a breakdown. She said,
“It was Halloween and we were all wearing masks and wigs. Then the oxygen masks came down and we thought it was a joke for Halloween. We thought, ‘This doesn’t make any sense’…I got very nervous and I put on the mask…but Salma just looked at it and kept writing on the customs card…then she realized I had not spoken for twenty seconds and she thought it was really strange.”
Cruz later said that she had a nervous attack and that she thought about her family’s well-being while there were issues with the plane.
