Marvel’s Thunderbolts is one of the highly anticipated films from the franchise that will hit theaters in 2025. Headlined by Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, the film will also feature Marvel alum Sebastian Stan reprising his role as Bucky Barnes along with other regular Marvel cameos.
The popular narrative based on a group of anti-heroes is already gaining hype for its ensemble cast and the plotline. While Ford’s inclusion as the leader of the pack excited Marvel fans a great deal, an inside source recently revealed that Thaddeus Ross almost did not make it into the film. Marvel buffs felt that this would have been a disaster.
Netizens Cannot Believe That Harrison Ford Was Almost Not In Thunderbolts
The MCU just got more legendary with veteran actor and Hollywood superstar Harrison Ford’s presence. The Indiana Jones actor is stepping into the Marvel Universe for the first time for 2025’s big projects Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts. Ford will play Thaddeus Ross, an ex-US military officer and the head of the gamma bomb project that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk.
While the veteran star is being viewed as the perfect choice to replace the late William Hurt, fans were in disbelief to know that his character was almost not included in Thunderbolts. According to an inside source on X, Ford’s Thaddeus Ross and another key character Tiamat the Communicator were not originally part of the script before a change was ultimately made. Netizens believed the Star Wars actor’s absence would have spelt disaster for the film.

As it turned out, Marvel fortunately went with the right move of retaining Ford’s character in Thunderbolts. The veteran is expected to play a pivotal role in the MCU in 2025.
Will Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross Have No Mustache?
With the announcement that Harrison Ford will play Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts, the expectations for the films and the MCU are sky-high. One of the recognizable elements of the character is his physical appearance. Right from the comic books to the big screen so far, Ross is seen sporting a trademark thick mustache that has become synonymous with the character.
William Hurt who played this character originally, also embodied this look fully. But the initial peek into the sets of Captain America 4 has caused fans to become anxious as Harrison Ford was seen sporting a clean-shaven appearance for the role. This new look made netizens a bit sceptical. One fan on X was blunt with his comments when he said,
“I hate that when they recast people they don’t put the effort to make the new actor look like the character he’s playing.”
While there is still no official confirmation regarding a possible change of look for Harrison Ford, it is clear that Marvel fans are keen to see the character of Thunderbolt Ross kept intact without any drastic modifications.
