Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 was supposedly going to turn it all around for the superhero universe. After a failed attempt with Phase 4, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was a promising candidate when it came to reviving the MCU. Starring Paul Rudd, Jonathan Majors, and Kathryn Newton, the film unfortunately failed to live up to the fans’ expectations.

Kathryn Newton’s latest film, Abigail, has just hit the theatres and has received positive reviews from the critics. The vampire horror comedy has received a great score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes which is almost double the 46% given to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Clearly, the audience was not a fan of the MCU film.

Recently, Newton joined CinePOP, along with her Abigail co-star Dan Stevens, where she compared her new film with her MCU debut. When asked which was more challenging to make, the actress gave the win to Abigail. Furthermore, she stated that Quantumania was the easiest job of her career so far.

“I think the Marvel movie, actually. But I don’t know… This was, physically, actually harder than Ant-Man. Ant-Man was the easiest job of my life. It was really fun… And this one was just as fun, but it was different. We had a real set, we had real props, real people. So whatever inspiration you get is from what’s happening right in front of you and I didn’t have to make it up, there was no green screen. And that was much more freeing than I was prepared for.”

Little did Newton know that her comments about Ant-Man 3 being the easiest job of her life were going to come back and bite her.

Newton has been a part of many well-known films and television series including Bad Teacher, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Big Little Lies, and Supernatural. Clearly, the young actress holds enough talent to keep her occupied in the entertainment industry.

Unfortunately, her role as Cassie Lang failed to impress the audience, and the actress was brutally trolled on social media for the same. And now that she has called the film her easiest job so far, trolls have something new to talk about. Taking to X, many MCU fans stated that they “could tell” why she found the film easy, pointing fingers at her mediocre portrayal.

They even stated that the entire film was carried by not Paul Rudd, but by Jonathan Majors who played Kang. Take a look at what fans have to say about Newton’s comments:
