When Bob Chapek ran Disney as CEO, Kevin Feige was stripped of his power to properly oversee every Marvel project that was in development. With the influx of Marvel Disney+ shows and the overabundance of MCU content, he was spread too thin and the MCU suffered its lowest phase in the past two years.
Brie Larson starrer The Marvels became the first flop in the MCU, an unfortunate feat that was unheard of in the franchise. The film was not well received by fans and among the many criticisms that they had, one glaring plothole led to them questioning whether Feige oversaw the script of the film.
Fans Can’t Believe that Kevin Feige Approved This Plothole in The Marvels
2023 was a bleak year for Marvel as the year showed the studio at its worst with many fans calling out the lazy writing in their narratives, unfocused direction, and a lack of cohesiveness between the projects. While the third Guardians of the Galaxy film and Loki season 2 were high points of the year, Ant-Man 3, Secret Invasion, and The Marvels proved to be some of the weakest that the MCU had to offer.
In addition to fans not liking the latter, it also became the franchise’s first flop. Fans pointed out the bad writing and the underwhelming villain as the main cons of the film. Now, Heavy Spoilers has pointed out a big plothole in The Marvels (on X) that has led to fans wonder how could this be possible under the supervision of Kevin Feige.
The events of Secret Invasion and The Marvels happen one after the other in close periods. Both President Ritson and Dar-Benn are trying to get rid of Skrulls as they think that they are a threat to Earth and the universe. However, in The Marvels it is seen that the Skrulls who have escaped the destruction caused by Dar-Benn are brought back to earth in New Asgard by Valkyrie.
This confusing and glaring plothole speaks to the inconsistency between the various MCU projects that have plagued the studio for the past two years. Now, with Feige shaking things up and Bob Iger insisting on ‘quality over quantity’, fans hope that the upcoming MCU projects bring back the glory days of the past and rekindle the audience’s faith in the studio.
Sony and Kevin Feige Have Opposing Ideas About Spider-Man 4
After the huge success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a fourth Spider-Man film is in development, and the makers behind the film are trying to find out the perfect way to move forward from the events of the third film. Currently, it seems Sony and Marvel Studios have different ideas on how they want to approach the fourth film.
According to Daniel Richtman (via Xfire), Sony wants Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to return for the fourth installment and make it into another huge event film. On the other hand, Feige wants Spider-Man 4 to be more grounded and more about Holland’s Spider-Man and his journey forward.
The two parties have to find a middle ground and settle on a story that acknowledges the events of No Way Home and presents a unique and exciting new adventure featuring a mature Peter Parker. it remains to be seen what they decide on as new reports are sure to emerge later on.
