Gunn has a lot of big-budget movies to his credit and he has mostly handled the projects with his prowess and experience. But what about Superman? His upcoming DC movie is nowhere near anything to resemble bits and pieces of his MCU trilogy, Guardians of the Galaxy. But Gunn could release the immense pressure of bringing one of the most iconic DC characters and frontline hero, Superman after he finished the script. Speaking with Inside Of You Clips, the DC boss revealed his process of creating Superman in a new light. “I did up until I finished the script,” Gunn said of the pressure behind helming the project. But now “it’s fun” for the director.

“I love the script and people love the script and so like I feel great about the script. I felt a shitload of pressure at the beginning. But I think that it was, you know? People know I was offered Superman years ago. I said no because I didn’t know quite how to tackle it and I think that you know? But because of that, I kept thinking about it and thinking about it and thinking about how could I create a Superman that’s true to the character of Superman, that absolutely loves the character Superman, and yet is a take on Superman that’s different enough that it’s worth you know making a big budget movie about it um that it’s worth people seeing it that it won’t be boring.”

After he finished the script, the director said the rest of the process was fun until it came to finding the cast. It was hard to find the right cast for the roles. Eventually, that panned out well, and now Gunn is all set to begin production in March.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled for 11 July 2025 release.
