Fortnite is not just a battle royale game, but a product that helped popularize the concept alongside games like PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds. Now it has amply spread its roots in the gaming sector while also attracting entities from different industries. As of now, it has nearly 240 Million registered users on the platform.
A popular name among celebrities, it wasn’t present in the dictionary of singer and actress Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, popularly known as Lady Gaga, until now. She worked alongside Bradley Cooper in the 2018 film A Star Is Born which did a business of $436.2 Million on a budget of $36 Million.
Better Late Than Never
In her latest post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), it appears that she has finally figured out what Fortnite is. What’s interesting is that she mentioned a post that she posted nearly five years from now which reads, “What’s fortnite” with a small ‘f.’ Her avatar, as can be seen in the image, appears covered in a glowing pink-colored fog.
her appearance is aligned with the release of the Fortnite Festival where select entries from her discography will be available during the event as highlighted by the pop culture magazine Rolling Stones. However, there are no details on whether there will be a metaverse concert in the game.
Several acclaimed entities and brands from the entertainment industry including Eminem, Avenged Sevenfold, Marvel, and more have collaborated with the game in the past. Though Travis Scott’s event concert remains the biggest event with regards to total views, garnering 27.7 Million unique views, the Galactus event was the largest when it comes to concurrent players as 15.3 Million players saw it live.
Lady Gaga Have Been Busy Lately
Last month, Lady Gaga shared a picture of herself in an overly stripped sweater in a studio with a black heart and music emojis in the caption on the photo-sharing app Instagram. It was clear she was teasing a new album or song. The 13-time Grammy winner last released her album in 2020 called Chromatica which reached which sold 3.1 Million copies according to music data aggregator ChartMasters.
She is also a part of the upcoming DC Comics-based movie Joker: Folie à Deux where she’ll be playing Harleen Quinzel aka Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix who’ll be reprising his role of the Joker from the previous entry. The film is set to release in October this year.
For now, fans can focus on the celebrity’s appearance in the battle royale game. The next Fortnite Festival will reportedly go live on 22 February 2024. Meanwhile, Epic Games, the game’s creators, could drop a major update on the same day.
