Hell broke lose in late 2022 when it was announced that Liam Hemsworth would be replacing Henry Cavill in The Witcher, and season 3 would serve as Cavill’s swansong from the IP. This led to a not-so-small portion of the fandom reviewing bombing season 3 upon its premiere, with some even stressing that the show should end with Cavill’s departure.

But despite the pushback from the fans, Netflix has persisted with its decision and greenlit two more seasons for The Witcher, and the filming for the fourth one began not very long ago. And the new leak from the sets has given an idea of how Hemsworth’s Witcher might look like in the show, which has failed to impress fans of the series.

It’s important to note that in the leaked set image, which has been making rounds on the internet, it’s not actually a first look at Liam Hemsworth but his stunt double Joel Adrian. Adrian, who played Hemrik in the sequel and was responsible for the stunt work in the threequel, could be seen wearing a black unbuttoned leather jacket, similar to Grandmaster Wolven Armorin.

Although it wasn’t Hemsworth himself in the new Witcher attire, it does give us a proper idea of how the final output would appear onscreen, and fans aren’t pleased with the look of the new Geralt.

Although Netflix is yet to release an official first look at Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia, it’d take some huge effort from both the actor and the creators to once again win over fans of the show.

Speaking of The Witcher Season 4, executive producers Tomek Baginski and Steve Gaub shed light on how Hemsworth will replace Henry Cavill as the new Geralt of Rivia. While the two didn’t delve into much detail for obvious reasons, as they didn’t want to spoil it for fans, they assured it would be worth it. Baginski added that it delves into deeper ideas presented in Book 5, stressing that “every story can be told from many, many POVs” in the world of The Witcher.

He told Daily Express US:

“We have to be quite careful because how Liam will get incorporated into season four, that’s a huge spoiler and we really don’t want to spoil it… We don’t really want to destroy the surprise. I think it’s done really nicely and very, very close to some deeper ideas in the books which were introduced in book five, at the very very end of the saga,”

Although it’s too early to say anything, fans can only hope that the penultimate season respects the source material and delivers another great story.

The Witcher is available to stream on Netflix.
