Brie Larson is an Integral Part of the MCU, Despite Unjustified Hate
Brie Larson‘s new movie in the MCU The Marvels is now running in theaters. As Captain Marvel, her 2019 solo film grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide, making it the first female-led superhero film to pass the billion-dollar mark and the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2019.
She has quickly become one of the most popular and beloved superheroes in the MCU. Larson brings a unique charisma and strength to the role, and she has perfectly captured the essence of Carol Danvers.
Despite being an integral part of the MCU, Larson has faced criticism and hate from a segment of the fanbase.
People dislike Larson for a range of, often unjustified, reasons. Marvel fans aren’t particularly fond of her character but much of the frustration is directed at Larson herself.
Once Captain Marvel came out in 2019, a lot of the hardcore MCU fans called her “unlikeable” and claimed that she ruined what should have been one of the most unique and complex characters in the comic book world.
Despite the backlash, Captain Marvel played a pivotal role in the MCU’s narrative, and Larson’s popularity as Captain Marvel remains high.
How the Actress Addressed This Hatred by Some Fans
The actress was aware of the unjustified and unwanted hatred she has been receiving from MCU fans and in an interview with Variety in 2022 talked about her future in the MCU.
As the reporter asked her for how long she would be playing this role, she replied:
“I don’t know. Does anyone want me to do it again?”
Though the reporter thought she was kidding there, but she was actually addressing the rampant hatred she received for playing the character.
The hatred she gets is mostly something she does not deserve at all. Captain Marvel is and will likely be an important character in the future of the MCU.
