Before associating his name with the big franchises and animation flicks, Chris Pratt was known for playing Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. Pratt made an insane physical transformation to change himself from an adorable overweight to a charming MCU superhero. Interestingly, the actor’s ex-wife, Anna Faris reacted very weirdly to his transformation.

How did Anna Faris feel about Chris Pratt’s MCU transformation?

Initially, Chris Pratt had a tough time in the industry before landing the role of Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. Speaking to the Smartless podcast, Chris Pratt revealed that he had some of his worst auditions for roles in Star Trek and Avatar. This also made him initially reluctant to play Peter Quill in the MCU. However, when he won over the Marvel heads and James Gunn and was selected for GoTG, the 44-year-old actor pulled off an intense physical transformation.

During a conversation with Express, Chris Pratt spilled more details about his physical transformation for Guardians of the Galaxy. The Zero Dark Thirty actor revealed that he went through a grueling fitness regime for the first five months. Pratt added that he enjoyed the process but it was also painful.

However, he was most surprised at getting the weirdest response from his then-wife Anna Faris. The latter reflected a mixed approach to the situation and was both impressed and displeased.

“She would vacillate between being turned on and happy and like, ‘Oh my God honey, look at your body, that’s crazy!’ That was one side but the other side was ‘Oh will you just eat something, you grumpy bastard'”

Chris Pratt and James Gunn did something extremely unexpected when Guardians of the Galaxy became a huge success. Gunn’s vision and the performances elevated the film to a crazy fun ride that was enjoyed by all despite not being a significant superhero group in the Marvel comics. The success also led to two successful GoTG sequels in the MCU.

Chris Pratt trained under former Navy Seal and celebrity trainer Duffy Gaver. The latter had been responsible for some insane physical transformations of actors like Brad Pitt in Troy and the Spider-Man fame Tobey Maguire. Gaver revealed that Pratt was very disciplined and the type of client who does not need to be pushed but “the type of client you have to pull down” (via Muscle and Fitness).

Chris Pratt set an example with his transformation for the MCU role. Duffy Gaver spoke to Esquire that Pratt was completely in a different shape. He is very proud of what the actor achieved under him.

“I think Chris’s body at the time was working for the type of actor he was, but it was time for a change. I’m extremely proud of the work I did with Chris because it took him from being a character actor of sorts to being a leading man. And a really highly sought-after leading man.”

Duffy Gaver also added that the Owen Grady actor was one of his favorite clients, and, he still gives his example to other clients. With the conclusion of the Guardians of the Galaxy Trilogy, we have to wait a lot for Peter Quill to return to the MCU. However, some rumors also suggest that James Gunn may have involved him in his DCU.

The Garfield Movie will be released on May 24, 2024. The Guardians of the Galaxy movies can be streamed on Disney+.
