Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is arguably the most renowned shonen anime series in anime history, as it was a part of “The Big Three” comprising Naruto and Bleach. Ever since the first episode of the anime was aired on television, it gained immense love from the viewers and fans of the manga. Even in 2024, the anime series continues to gain more and more viewers as they continue to tell the story of Monkey D. Luffy, and his Straw Pirate crew.
The series has numerous strong points like its well-written characters, storyline, well-choreographed fight scenes, and most important of all its animation. However, an AI artist claimed that they could do the job better than the animators working in the show, until José B. Rebolledo, one of the animators of One Piece silenced him on social media.
One Piece Animator Silences an AI Artist on Social Media
There’s no denying that Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has gained widespread love and popularity through its detailed storyline, exciting characters, and creative settings. With 1094 episodes and counting, the anime series is still going strong, the characters as well as the animation has changed immensely in 25 years. While some fans were not a big fan of the alterations, a majority of them enjoyed the change in the animation style.
As the world progresses, new technology and trends emerge, one of them being AI. Recently, an AI artist went to X to flaunt their prowess, as they showcased a poorly made Monkey D. Luffy graphic, and claimed that “not even in your dreams would you be able to make an illustration like this.” Until, José B. Rebolledo, one of the many animators for the anime series cooked the AI Artist, calling him an “idiot”, and he could do it better because he could “animate it.”

Eiichiro Oda Drops a Hint on When One Piece Will Come To An End
Eiichoro Oda’s magnum opus, One Piece has been on top of the anime and manga world for 27 years as the show continues to grow strong. The show is currently featuring the Egghead Arc, one of the final chapters of the series, and many fans wonder when the anime series will come to an end.
It looks like Oda-san has already the answer that fans were looking for. During an exclusive interview with OVER 100 Miracle Talk that was featured in Weekly Shonen Jump 2022 issue #34 and Weekly Shonen Sunday issue #35, which was later translated by Demifiendrsa on Tumblr. The manga artist explained,
“Truly at the start, I thought ‘ONE PIECE’ would end in five years, and in about a year and a half Luffy’s crew of ten would have gathered together. I thought of it like a video game but I was far too naive! It’s not that I wanted things to keep getting longer, that’s just what ended up happening!!”
Oda shared that he made changes in the story as he initially thought of bringing the entire crew of Straw Hat Pirates together in a matter of a year and a half. However, he changed his decision to expand the story as he couldn’t anticipate getting so much love from the fans. In the same interview, he added,
“I’ve always pictured what the final chapter of ‘ONE PIECE’ would be like, though from time to time, the situation surrounding it changes. It will still be over whenever the One Piece is found in the series, haha. Anyway, this next arc is the final one.”
The ending of the anime series will truly be a historic moment, as it will mark the end of the long journey of the Straw Hat Pirates with Luffy becoming the King of the Pirates.
One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
