Unfortunately, Tinseltown is prone to injuries. From stunt mishaps to on-set accidents, the actors put their bodies on the line to bring us the thrilling, action-packed films we all enjoy. Fans may be understandably concerned when they learn that Chris Pratt injured his ankle while filming Mercy.
Yes, the actor recently posted pictures on Instagram of some really painful injuries he received while filming his new film. This news has sparked concern among fans, as it could potentially be a repeat of Jeremy Renner’s 2023 infamous snowplow accident. Renner attempted to swerve a snowplow away from his nephew when it began to head toward the actor’s younger relative during the incident in Reno, Nevada. The actor broke thirty bones.
Also, this is not the first time Pratt has sustained an injury on set. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor disclosed the extremely painful injuries he got while doing the 2016 filming of Passengers.
Mercy: Chris Pratt’s Ankle Injury on the Set of New Flick
Well, filming for Chris Pratt’s upcoming film, Mercy, has just begun. According to his social media post, the shooting is only on its fourth day, and the lead actor has sustained an ankle injury. On Thursday, he posted a picture of his elevated ankle covered in an ice pack on Instagram with the caption, “Mercy filming day 4”. As he praised his “stunt team”, the actor continued:
“I have such a great stunt team! AND I sometimes try to get in there and do some of my own stuff. Today, daddy caught a metal post to the ankle. Should be interesting moving forward.”
The ankle is severely bruised and swollen in the second picture, which also shows the removal of the ice pack. The 44-year-old actor, who was spotted shooting scenes for the film in Malibu on Wednesday (see Daily Mail), shared a photo on Thursday of himself relaxing in a chair with an ice pack placed on his injured right ankle. He concluded the post by saying:
“Today, daddy caught a metal post to the ankle. Should be interesting moving forward.”
It would not be shocking if the injury had an impact on production or if filming had been delayed.
The incident has prompted comparisons to Jeremy Renner’s 2023 snowplow accident, in which the actor was taken to the hospital after colliding with his snowplow, resulting in chest trauma and thirty broken bones (per CNN).
Jeremy Renner’s Therapeutic Endeavors Post-Snowplow Accident
Jeremy Renner was hospitalized on January 1, 2023, after being run over by a snowplow, which resulted in chest trauma and thirty broken bones. We learned from ABC News that the snowplow was a massive snowcat that weighed 14,330 pounds.
The Hawkeye actor has been receiving physical therapy every day since leaving the hospital, which has helped him recover and regain mobility less than a year later. Renner claimed to have tried “every type of therapy” in an Instagram post, last year:
“I have been exploring EVERY type of therapy since Jan 14th. Everyday, countless hours of physical therapy, peptide injections, IV drips and pushes, stem cell and exosomes, red light / IR therapy, hyperbaric chamber 2.0 atmospheres, cold plunge, and the list goes on and on.”
Since January 2023, Renner has been updating his social media almost daily while recovering over the course of several months. At the time, rubber bands and screws were holding the actor’s jaw together, he revealed to Diane Sawyer of ABC News in April.
A report from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department (per THR) stated that the snowplow moved because Renner had not correctly engaged the emergency brake when he got out of the car.
Okay, accidents do happen. So here’s to a speedy recovery for Chris Pratt, and may his next project be a huge success despite this minor setback!
