Deadpool, also known as Wade Wilson, or the Merc with a Mouth, originally appeared in the critically panned film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). The only true silver lining was that Reynolds, in the red suit, was a perfect fit for the beloved role. Fans were eventually able to see his first Deadpool film in 2016 after a seven-year wait, and Deadpool 2 followed in 2018.

Wade Wilson can be seen reading a book in the upcoming MCU movie while sporting a Ryan Gosling shirt, according to a recent report from DiscussingFilm. Clearly, that is not the Canadian star’s physical appearance, as one may assume.

While it may be a missed opportunity to see Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman on screen together, this clever move adds an extra layer of intrigue to the already wildly successful franchise.  This impromptu nod to Gosling has fans chock-full of anticipation, wondering what other twists the upcoming film may hold.

The film is helmed by Shawn Levy; co-writers include Reynolds, Zeb Wells, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Levy. Reynolds and Jackman are reprising their roles as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively. During CinemaCon, the director told Screen Rant:

“As far as crafting the Deadpool and Wolverine story, I just felt privileged every day because you’re talking about two massive movie stars in their most iconic roles.”

Along with hinting that it will be “funny” and “gnarly”, Levy also mentioned how “extremely, extremely promising” the early screenings of the movie were.

Taylor Swift’s Potential Role in Deadpool & Wolverine: What We Know So Far

Speculation is rife after Taylor Swift’s alleged reveal of an Easter egg featuring Deadpool & Wolverine in one of her new songs (see The Direct). The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD), her eleventh album, was released on April 19. Having said that, there have been months-long rumors that she might appear as the Dazzler in Deadpool 3.

Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool 3, was questioned about the possibility of Swift appearing in the threequel as the mutant Dazzler during an interview with The Wrap. The director remarked that Swifties “sure are loud” when they called for the singer to play the X-Men hero. Regretfully, though, Levy chose to remain silent about the rumors in light of their connections to two well-known subjects, Swift and the MCU.

The director shared:

“No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy.”

Deeper connections and details about Swift’s personal life and relationships can be discovered by deciphering the Easter eggs (or hidden allusions or hints), that the pop singer is famous for putting into her songs. As a result, it would not be surprising if the Blank Space hitmaker teased a future appearance in what could be the biggest film of 2024.

Deadpool & Wolverine is slated for release on July 26, 2024, so mark your calendars.
