This is not the first time the giant empire made this accomplishment. It’s a repeat performance of their record-breaking triumph in 2018 when they crossed the same mark at 17 weeks. Indeed, Disney should take notes from Warner Bros!

Two of the biggest releases from Warner Bros, Dune: Part Two and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire proved that the cinema is still the public’s favorite mode of entertainment. Congratulations to our exceptionally talented global marketing and distribution teams for this remarkable achievement. We also extend our gratitude to our partners in the exhibition community for their incredible support. As Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca continue to build our theatrical film slate and create opportunities for us to work with the greatest partners in front of and behind the camera, we look forward to what more we can achieve in the future.”

It’s not yet the middle of the year, and WB is already winning. With a couple of highly anticipated movies slated for the coming months, such as Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Disney needs to keep up with the game.

WB Discovery CEO David Zaslav talked about the promising success of the company for this year after it suffered a major loss in the past few years. He told investors via CNN:

Bottom line, we’re a far healthier company now, and we’re building real momentum. And we expect 2024 will be a year to drive that momentum forward even further. That said, this business is not without its challenges.”

Apart from the release of major movie franchises in theaters, he also pledged to include more content on the studio’s streaming platform.

We’re excited to be refreshing and reigniting our content pipeline at Max. The fact is the strikes really slowed down production, and we didn’t have as much content as we wanted for Max. And we’re now moving forward with a great slate.”

The studio is certainly doing something right at this point, and they might reach another milestone in the coming months.
