Cheaters in Call of Duty need a double-check from developers. Despite many attempts to ward off the evil in the game, appears like no trick is working out against malevolent players. Another instance has surfaced on the internet where one hacker ruined the game entirely. Interestingly, that malicious user didn’t even use a gun to wreak havoc in a cross-play-off lobby.
An anti-cheat system dubbed Ricochet is been in place for months now, however, it appears like the systems are still learning to distinguish the innocent from malevolent ones. In their last crackdown, the Ricochet team said they had banned 6,000 hackers from the game. Still, the problem persists and is spreading like wildfire.
Riot Shield Suddenly Becomes an Offensive Weapon in Call of Duty
In a recent shock and awe campaign by a hacker wielding a riot shield, players were caught off-guard when they all were taken down in a snap. The video shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) shows the fast-paced gameplay where all the players were seen struggling against a single player.

Riot shield is a primary weapon in the game but is typically a piece of defensive equipment that prevents a player from other users firing at them by deflecting the bullets. However, it can also be used in offensive capabilities like a melee attack which can defeat the enemy.
A user dubbed Eddie_King wrote, “This is sad, COD will be unplayable with so many cheaters. I’m not surprised tho.” Professional Call of Duty player Nadeshot has shared such emotions in the past when he showcased in a post the tricks cheaters are pulling to ruin the Warzone experience.
This is sad , COD will be unplayable with so many cheaters. I’m not surprised tho. Yesterday went to GameStop to look for the Nacon controller and two individuals were buying Cronus and I started laughing so hard, I told them you guys are the problem.

Cheaters are using a variety of ways to exploit the experience ranging from flying helicopters and killing people with grenade launchers using aimbots. This indeed has made players’ lives a living hell.
Something Has To Be Done Soon
And it is a business out there. In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan and Dan Soder discussed how some companies are actually selling these cheats against certain sums. Moreover, the UFC color commentator also shared his experience during that one time he encountered some cheaters while playing the game.
Users have emphasized in the past that developers should focus on the issue. CoD teams are strict while keeping the game free from malaise. In September 2022, they banned nearly 500K accounts of users for abusive behavior.
It would be just great to see if such measures are implemented against the hackers too. Although identifying a hacker is different in contrast to abusive players in voice chat, it still is a doable task.
